Tai Lavatai, Top Navy vs. South Florida Players to Watch – Week 5

A pair of outstanding rushers will be on display when Alex Tecza and the Navy Midshipmen (1-2) host Byrum Brown and the South Florida Bulls (2-2) on Saturday, September 30, 2023.

The Midshipmen last played against the Memphis Tigers, and they fell short 28-24. The Bulls picked up a 42-29 victory last time out against the Rice Owls.

In that last outing for the Midshipmen, Tai Lavatai completed 10 of 19 passing attempts (52.6%) and totaled 133 yards through the air, connecting on one touchdown pass. Tecza had 15 rushing attempts and wound up with 163 yards and one touchdown. Brandon Chatman ended the contest with one catch for 58 yards.

In the Bulls’ last game, Brown threw for 435 yards on 22-29 passing (75.9%), tossing two touchdowns, plus 14 rushing attempts for 82 yards and one rushing touchdown. K’Wan Powell ran for one touchdown while racking up 55 yards on nine attempts. Naiem Simmons earned 272 yards on eight receptions with one score.
