Ashton Jeanty, Top Boise State vs. San Diego State Players to Watch – Week 4

On Friday at 10:30 PM ET, two of the best offensive performers in college football will be featured when Ashton Jeanty and the Boise State Broncos (1-2) visit Mark Redman and the San Diego State Aztecs (2-2).

The Broncos took the loss 56-19 last time out when they took on the Washington Huskies. The Aztecs picked up a 20-13 win last time out against the Ohio Bobcats.

In that last outing for the Broncos, Taylen Green completed 18 of 29 passing attempts (62.1%) and totaled 188 yards through the air, connecting on one touchdown pass but giving away one interception and one touchdown as a rusher. Jambres Dubar had 10 rushing attempts and wound up with 62 yards. Eric McAlister found paydirt twice, and ended the contest with six catches for 143 yards.

In the Aztecs’ last game, Jalen Mayden threw for 256 yards on 20-32 passing (62.5%) while throwing one interception. Jaylon Armstead ran for one touchdown while racking up 48 yards on 11 attempts. Brionne Penny gained 77 yards on six receptions.

Boise State Players to Watch

  • This year, Green has collected 576 passing yards (192 yards per game) while going 46-for-87 (52.9% completion percentage) and throwing three touchdowns and four interceptions. He has tacked on 103 rushing yards on 16 carries with one touchdown, averaging 34.3 yards per game.
  • Jeanty has taken 50 carries for a team-leading 202 rushing yards (67.3 yards per game) while scoring four touchdowns. He’s also caught 14 passes for 236 yards with two touchdowns through the air.
  • This season McAlister has 15 catches and leads the team with 238 yards (79.3 per game) while hauling in two touchdowns.
  • This season Stefan Cobbs has caught 13 passes for 131 yards and one touchdown, averaging 43.7 receiving yards per game.

San Diego State Players to Watch

  • Mayden has thrown for 703 yards while completing 60% of his passes (69-of-115), with three touchdowns and four interceptions this year (175.8 yards per game). He’s also carried the ball 41 times for 183 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 45.8 yards per game.
  • Armstead has taken 38 attempts for a team-leading 193 rushing yards (48.3 yards per game) while scoring two touchdowns.
  • This season Redman has 15 receptions for a team-high 178 receiving yards (44.5 per game) and two touchdowns.
  • Mekhi Shaw has also tacked on 10 receptions for 128 yards and one touchdown.
  • Penny has collected 90 yards on eight receptions, averaging 30 yards per game.
