DFS MLB Lineups for April 16, 2017 at Draftkings.com & Fanduel.com

For this baseball season, each day there’s a good slate of DFS MLB games, we’ll be writing up a group of pitchers and hitters that we’re considering for our cash and GPP lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel. We’ll also provide a list of stacks to consider, MLB start times, starting pitchers, and game run totals to give you a good idea of where the fantasy goodness might come from on a given night.

The early going this baseball season has been interesting. Lots of ace level pitchers getting roughed up and lots of stud batters hitting under the Mendoza line. Remember, you can make a really solid lineup and still fall short of the cash line. Even the best pitchers have horrible starts, and the best hitters in the game can still go 0 for 4. Baseball is funny like that. Trust the process and know that if you’re playing quality lineups, you’ll be a winner in the long term.

Another thing to remember is to always check the weather. Always. Make this something that is part of your basic routine. Baseball games can get postponed! Your players receive no points from postponed games!

Best DFS MLB Pitchers for April 16, 2017

Drew Pomeranz vs TB ($7.5k DraftKings, $7.8k FanDuel)
Pomeranz is quite underpriced in a matchup with the strikeout prone Tampa Rays. Pomeranz is not Chris Sale. Let’s make that clear. However, it’s hard to ignore that the lefty Sale, just posted 12 strikeouts in 7 innings against this Rays squad. Pomeranz is left handed, by the way, and also put up a 26% K rate last year. With the expected lineup he’ll face, it’s safe to assume somewhere in the 6-8 strikeout range in most circumstances, with a ceiling game of 9-10. The price, combined with the GPP upside, makes Pomeranz one of the top options on the day.

Dylan Bundy @ TOR ($7.9k DraftKings, $7.2k FanDuel)
People do not want to roster pitchers against the Blue Jays because there’s still this perception that is offense is potent. Upon closer look, we notice Russell Martin has been horrible. Josh Donaldson is on the disabled list. E5 is in Cleveland. Tulo is a shell of his former self. Frankly, this lineup is one we can target. If Dylan Bundy can keep from walking Jays around the bases, he makes for a solid tournament play and gives us tons of flexibility to roster some big bats.

Other pitchers to consider: Jon Lester vs Pirates, Gio Gonzalez vs Phillies

Best DFS MLB Hitters for April 16, 2017

Jay Bruce @ MIA ($3.4k DraftKings, $3.8k FanDuel)
Miami isn’t a place where we usually try and target hitters due to the park limiting homers. However, Bruce could hit it out of Yellowstone and Dan Straily is the type of fly ball pitcher that Bruce could have a huge day against. Bruce’s wOBA and ISO are over 100 points better against righties, and his average batted ball distance of 254 so far this season is one of the highest on the slate. Bruce’s teammates are also swinging the stick well, so if he gets on base, his chance of scoring is as good as you can get right now. And finally, the price, especially at DraftKings, is just too cheap.

Eric Thames @ CIN ($4k DraftKings, $2.8k FanDuel)
He’s $2.8k on FanDuel. Seriously. I have no idea what the pricing algo over there has against Thames, but as long as they keep grossly mispricing him, we’ll just keep playing him. All he’s done is hit homers in 2017 and help people land in the money in GPPs and cash games. Did I mention he gets to face a guy making his major league debut? You can make the case for a few different guys in his price range on DraftKings, but on FanDuel, it’s as close to a lock button situation as we’ll have this early in the season.

Other batters to consider: Ryan Braun, Corey Seager, Francisco Lindor, Matt Davidson, Mitch Moreland, Max Kepler

4/16/17 DFS MLB STACKS

Reds vs Wily Peralta
Padres vs Bartolo Colon
Angels vs Ian Kennedy
