Best NBA Picks for January 19, 2017

John Wall ($9.6k DraftKings, $10.2k FanDuel)
On a slate without Harden, Westbrook, Boogie, or the Greek Freak, there’s few super expensive options to spend up to get. In fact, LeBron James sports the only five-figure price on DraftKings tonight. That is going to lead many to John Wall. He’s the most expensive PG by $1000, and the third most expensive player on all of DK. But again, we’ll have the money. Consistency is the name of the game with Wall. He’s been under 40 DK points just one time since Christmas, and shows upside, topping 50 DK points seven times over that same timeframe. The Knicks actually defend the PG position pretty well (7th DvP), but Wall’s usage (34%) and ability to score fantasy points in a myriad of ways makes him near matchup proof. Further, we’ve got a healthy game total of 217 with the Wizards (109.5 implied) favored by only two.

Mid & Bargain Tier DFS NBA Picks

Guillermo Hernangomez ($3.2k DraftKings, $3.6k FanDuel)
The Knicks have already ruled out Joakim Noah for tonight, so we can expect to see some nice run for Hernangomez yet again. When given additional playing time over the last month, he has not disappointed. Since December 17, when Hernangomez receives over 18 minutes of court time, he’s averaging 1.18 DraftKings points per minute. It’s safe to project him for 18-20 minutes tonight, and with that, a points projection of somewhere between 19 and 25 DraftKings points. He’s a double-double threat with 10x upside tonight against the Wizards.

Raymond Felton ($4.8k DraftKings, $5.5k FanDuel)
With Chris Paul on the shelf for the next 6-8 weeks, Raymond Felton (and Austin Rivers, for that matter), are going to log some serious minutes. We can safely project Felton for somewhere between 33 and 37 minutes tonight, and as a guy that averages just under 1 DraftKings point per minute, you can see why he’s such an appealing play tonight as $4800. Felton fills up the stat sheet as well, which makes him very safe, and protects his floor. Averaging 11 points per game, he’s had at least one block or steal in every game in January, three or more rebounds in every game but one, and five or more assists in four of seven games.

If, Then Player

If Kristaps Porzingis sits again, and it is all but certain he will, Mindaugas Kuzminskas is again a place to find minutes on the cheap. With the injury situation in New York, Kuz has seen 30, 22, 37, and 28 minutes over the last Knicks last four games. He scored at least 14 real life points, and reached at least 27 DraftKings points in all but one of those. He’s crept up to $4500 at DK, but on a short slate, he’s still one of the more attractive value options.

Keep an eye on Danillo Gallinari as well. He’s been downgraded to questionable and if he sits this one out (Nuggets already down Wilson Chandler, Gary Harris, and Darrell Arthur), Will Barton and Kenneth Faried would both be very attractive tournament options at $6100 and $5200 on DraftKings, respectively.
