Week 2 of the NFL season is upon us and while I certainly hit on a few options, there were a few that also let me down quite a bit. I hope you guys were able to take advantage of some of the overlay around the industry and were able to take down some nice cash over the weekend. Let’s take a look at who we should be considering in our stacks!
QB/WR Stacks
When it comes to the QB-WR stacks this weekend, it is going to be extremely hard to ignore the combination of Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr as they get to take on a horrendous Saints defense, who just lost their top CB. This stack will be the highest owned of the weekend and should you want to try and differentiate, I would look to use Victor Cruz or Sterling Shepard.
The next stack that I think will be somewhat overlooked is Cam Newton and Kelvin Benjamin. I really like the Panthers offense as they take on a SF team that played over their head on Monday night and now has to travel across the country on a short week. Benjamin looked great against the Broncos in week 1 and I think that continues this week.
The final combination that I am looking at is Trevor Siemian and Emmanuel Sanders. The Colts D was just gashed by the Lions at home and now they have to travel to Denver, with like their top 8 defensive backs injured. Demaryius Thomas is dealing with a hip issue, so I think Sanders steps up big in this one.
RB/DEF Stacks
When taking a look at the RB-DEF stacks that are in the best spots, we get a couple from teams that I looked at when it comes to QB-WR stacking and a couple others that I think are sneaky. The first combination is CJ Anderson and the Denver Broncos. While I think it’s obvious why Anderson is in play after he tore up the Panthers D, it might not be as obvious as to why I like the Broncos. I just do not see the Colts running the ball very well in this one and when Luck has to drop back and throw the ball 40+ times, he usually makes a couple of mistakes. I am looking to see the Denver D with a handful of sacks and 2-3 turnovers and I think they pick up a TD as well.
The next stack, coming from a team we talked about already, is Jonathan Stewart and Carolina. The Panthers are probably my favorite defense this week and they should have a nice lead for most of the game, which means a lot of second half pounding of the ball. My second favorite defense happens to be Seattle and I think pairing them with Thomas Rawls could be very profitable as Rawls was announced as the starter on Wednesday.
The 49ers ran the ball pretty well against the Rams and while I think the Rams have a legit front 7, I just do not think they will fix their issues during a short week. My last two stacks are ones that I think are going to be sneaky and under owned given what their upside is. The two stacks are Ryan Mathews-Philadelphia and David Johnson-Arizona. Both defenses are big play capable and can take a turnover to the house at any given time.
Returner/DEF Stacks
Like I mentioned in week 1, Tyler Lockett-Seattle will always find its way into this write-up as long as Lockett is healthy. Lockett didn’t have a huge game on the offensive end last week and that certainly hurt my lineups, however he did manage 40 punt return yards.
My next combo was one that I didn’t think was really an option, however he was pretty active on offense and he caught me off guard as the PR for the Bears. Eddie Royal-Chicago is going to be my second stack as the Bears defense gets to take on a rookie QB, making his first road start. Royal, like Lockett, had 40 PR yards last week and he also saw 6 targets on offense. My next combination is in the same game as Royal as we already know I like the Philadelphia Eagles and I like the little electric man, Darren Sproles. Sproles had 5 rushes and received 5 targets on offense while picking up 59 punt return yards.
I have two other combinations that I will mention now as I think they will be in play more and more as the season progresses. Those combinations are Travis Benjamin-San Diego and Tyreek Hill-Kansas City. Benjamin is certainly in play this weekend as SD lost Keenan Allen so he should see even more targets on offense and while the SD D may not be in a great spot, there are certainly worse spots than facing a pass happy offense who just traveled across the country. Hill picked up a TD reception week 1 and while he didn’t see a ton of snaps, I think it’s only a matter of time before he sees more time on the field.
There you have it for Week 2, a list of my favorite stacking options. Make sure you let me know how you feel about my article in the comments below or on Twitter. Make sure to let me know how terrible I am, however if you do that be ready for me to point out when I nailed it! Best of luck and may your accounts be plentiful come Tuesday morning!
