Welcome to the week 14 NFL DFS plays piece where we highlight the studs and values guys I believe you need to have in your lineups this weekend! I will be discussing some Studs and some value plays to be considered around the industry for this weekends DFS action. Below will be some popular plays and should be on peoples radar for their cash game lineups.
QuarterBack
Studs
Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers (FD $9200, DK $7500)
Newton has been on another planet lately and getting to play at home should lead him to another impressive performance this weekend, even if it is against a solid Falcons pass defense. Cam’s price on FD is going to really suppress his ownership % and that is completely fine with me! Wilson is probably going to have the highest ownership % out of this group of studs and for good reason. I can not argue utilizing the hottest QB on the planet.
Other Studs: Tom Brady (FD $9300, DK $7800), Aaron Rodgers (FD $8900, DK $7000), Russell Wilson (FD $8500, DK $6300)
Values
Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (FD $7800, DK $5500)
Jameis gets to take on the defense that mostly resembles swiss cheese as the Saints defense has been making every QB look like the greatest of all time. Add in the fact that this game is at home for TB and the full health of the TB passing attack and we have a recipe for DFS gold! Jameis manages to sneak in some solid rushing points to add to his total by the end of the game and that’s always a plus.
Other Values: Tyrod Taylor (FD $7500, DK $5400), Blaine Gabbert (FD $6400, DK $5100)
Running Backs
Studs
Matt Forte, Chicago Bears (FD $7800, DK $6800)
Forte returned to his workhorse back ways last week and I expect to see more of the same this week as they take on a Washington team who has to travel after suffering a painful loss at home on Monday night football. Forte had 26 touches last week and I would guess he should see around that same number as the weather for this game looks a bit sloppy.
Other Studs: Devonta Freeman (FD $8700, DK $7700), Doug Martin (FD $8000, DK $6200)
Values
Shaun Draughn, San Francisco 49ers (FD $6500, DK $4800)
Draughn gets to take on the defense that is the Cleveland Browns this week and that has been a recipe for RB success all season long. In Draughn’s last four games he has gone for 20, 20, 20 and 18 touches. I love his involvement in the passing game and last week he finally found his way into the end zone and that could certainly happen again this week.
Other values: Chris Ivory (FD $7100, DK $5000), T.J. Yeldon (FD $6400, DK $4900), James White (FD $6300, DK $4100)
Wide Receivers
Studs
A.J. Green, Cincinnati Bengals (FD $8500, DK $7900)
AJ Green LOVES taking on the Steelers and I expect a game similar to the first one this season with double digit catches, over 100 yards receiving and a TD. It looks like Eifert will play which takes a little bit away from Green however I do not know how effective he will be and I think Dalton will attack this secondary on the outside with Green and even Jones.
Other Studs: Odell Beckham Jr. (FD $9300, DK $9100), Brandon Marshall (FD $8200, DK $7600), Antonio Brown (FD $9300, DK $8900)
Values
Doug Baldwin, Seattle Seahawks (FD $6800, DK $4500)
Baldwin has been on a roll over the last couple of weeks and I think that continues against a very porous Ravens pass defense as Baldwin seems to have taken over the seam routes after the Jimmy Graham injury. Baldwin has 433 yards and 6 TDs over his last 4 games and while his price is up on FD, it is still ridiculously cheap on DK this week.
Other Values: Travis Benjamin (FD $5700, DK $5000), DeVante Parker (FD $5900, DK $4000), Ted Ginn Jr (FD $6000, DK $3700)
Tight End
Studs
Greg Olsen, Carolina Panthers (FD $6600, DK $6900)
While Gronk is out, Olsen will definitely be my de facto #1 as he is Cam’s number 1 target and always just seems to get it done for the Panthers. Walker has managed to creep close to Olsen as Mariota really trusts him, however the fact his price has gotten a lot closer to Olsen’s make it easier to go with Olsen’s upside. On FD I think its a no-brainer as the price differences are not very extreme, however on DK you definitely have to decide between paying up for going bargain.
Other studs: Delanie Walker (FD $6100, DK $5600), Travis Kelce (FD $6000, DK $4700)
Values
Scott Chandler, New England Patriots (FD $5800, DK $3800)
Chandler’s price has come up slightly and while I think his upside is somewhat limited as he isn’t exactly and explosive receiving threat, I feel like he is the safest “cheap” TE and is probably the best bet to find the end zone. I really debated going with Seferian-Jenkins in this spot as I think he is in a GREAT spot, however his lengthy absence due to injury has me a little hesitant.
Other values: Coby Fleener (FD $4900, DK $3000), Austin Seferian-Jenkins (FD $5500, DK $2700), Zach Ertz (FD $5000, DK $2600)
