Week 7 is upon us and all I can say is who is ready to win some F’in money? Some of the DFS sites have cut back on their guarantees slightly with all the stuff going on, however I think there is still going to be some decent overlay in a number of spots and we definitely want to take advantage of that.
Looking back on last week I really struggled overall and it was kind of painful to see myself missing on so many combinations. The Patriots sort of disappointed as Edelman hurt himself and then couldn’t hold onto the ball, Gronk came alive for a few plays and Lewis never really got involved and Blount really took over. The Packers pass offense just does not look crisp at all. I would say I sort of hit on the Palmer/Fitzgerald combo, however John Brown was the one to pair with him and the other two stacks I feel pretty good about as the Jaguars passing game continued to excel and Hoyer/Hopkins did not disappoint one single bit. The only RB/DEF that I hit on was Ivory/Jets and that was more thanks to Ivory than anything the Jets D did.
Enough looking back at a really shaky week and let’s take a look at what Week 7 has to offer us!
QB/WR Stacks
My top option for this week resides down in Arizona and they get to play at home vs the very weak pass defense of the Ravens. Carson Palmer/Larry Fitzgerald/John Brown/Michael Floyd is a 4-some that I want a gigantic piece of in terms of DFS purposes! I will be honest and telling you that I am multi-entering a lot of GPPs this weekend and I will have 3 or 4 Palmer lineups just so I make sure I stack enough combinations as we aren’t 100% sure who will go off, but my money is on John Brown again. Floyd is a super cheap lottery ticket as he is capable of taking the top off the defense. If Webb returns for Baltimore, that’ll make life tough for Fitz, however he has been playing like a 25 year old this season and should be considered a very strong option. Stack option number two for me this weekend is the pairing of Philip Rivers/Antonio Gates. The Raiders defense has been torched by all TE’s not named Owen Daniels this season and as long as Gates is good to go, he makes a top tier option. Should Gates’ knee issue keep him out, Ladarius Green becomes an instant plug and play option. As of Thursday night, Keenan Allen had yet to practice this week so the Chargers receiving core is pretty banged up at this point.
My third combination is going to be Andrew Luck/Donte Moncrief. I know I should probably consider T.Y. Hilton in this game, however the Saints #1 CB, Breaux, has been extremely solid so far this year and Moncrief just seems to score TD’s when Luck is in the game. With that said, I certainly will have some Hilton exposure as the Colts get to play at home in what should be a decently high scoring game. My fourth combination is going to be Cam Newton/Greg Olsen. Now I understand Philly has been pretty good against the TE, however Olsen is not your average TE. I also will consider Ted Ginn Jr as well as he seems to be playing some serviceable football as a starting WR and is very cheap around the industry. My last combination for week 7 is the same one I finished off with last week, Brian Hoyer/DeAndre Hopkins. Hoyer loves himself some DeAndre and Shorts III has been ruled out this game and his 10 targets a game have to go somewhere. Why not to Hopkins, who already leads the world in targets so far this season.
RB/DEF Stacks
I think the number 1 stack option here is no secret as it appears the entire world is all over this combination according to Thursday night ownership #’s. Todd Gurley/St. Louis Rams are in great spots respectively as Gurley has been dominant over his last 2 weeks and gets the worst rushing defense in all of football. The Rams defense at home has been lights out so far this year and I expect that to continue against the Browns. Their prices are just too ridiculously cheap to ignore. My number 2 combination this week is Lamar Miller/Miami Dolphins as the coaching change has really brought focus on the Dolphins and they have stated they need to get their stars established and feed them the ball. Miller had a great game last week and I look for him to do so again. I know the Miami defense is up against my #5 QB/WR stack, however that doesn’t mean they both can’t find a ton of success. The Dolphins defense looked re-energized last week and could certainly cause some issues for the Texans this weekend.
My number 3 combination could certainly be higher given that Freeman has been the fantasy MVP so far in 2015, however the defense has been up and down and that’s why Devonta Freeman/Atlanta Falcons find themselves at number 3. Freeman is starting to be priced up quite a bit, which would generally make him a bit lower owned, however his unreal games of late are going to keep him somewhat popular. I would love the Falcons special teams/defense if Hester was healthy and returning punts, but without him I just like them in this match-up. I will throw in a 4th combo as a surprise one as I do really like the Panthers this weekend, however the Eagles defense is a big play defense and with Sproles returning kicks a score is a possibility so for those reasons I like DeMarco Murray/Philadelphia Eagles in some spots as Murray seems to have figured something out as he has gotten stronger and stronger and is looking a lot more dangerous with the ball.
Returner/DEF Stacks
Would have been a great week to be able to recommend Tyler Lockett/Seattle as Lockett was extremely active on offense tonight and the Seattle defense was all over Kaepernick. Without my go-to stack, I feel a little lost on where to turn. I know I mentioned Darren Sproles/Philadelphia above, and while that is a dangerous combination, I am worried that Sproles is being used so infrequently on offense that he might not be able to make up for it if he doesn’t return a punt for a TD. Sproles is always a big play guy and it seems to take just one big play on offense from him before he becomes a huge focal point of the offense in that game. I will go back to David Johnson/Arizona this week as I think the Cardinals are going to take it to the Ravens and Johnson has shown the ability to punch it in at the goal line on offense and the ability to take any kick back for 6. I think my top option for this week is going to be Tavon Austin/St. Louis as we already touched on the Rams defense earlier and Austin is super dangerous any time he touches the ball and is capable of giving you a TD from return, from a reception and from a rush attempt. One combination that you might call me crazy on but I think could give you a solid return on your money is Danny Amendola/New England this weekend. Amendola was very heavily involved in the pass game last week, especially once Edelman started to struggle which could happen again this week with Revis on him.
As I finish out this week’s article, do not forget about the concept I mentioned last week about pairing your DEF’ and kicker on FD. It seems to work out very well with strong defenses and can certainly give you a few point advantage on somebody else.
As always, thanks for taking the time to check out my article and hit me up on Twitter or in the comments section with any questions and I will gladly get back to you!
