Strengths

The Chargers secondary quietly had a very solid season. They allowed the fourth fewest receiving yards per game (225.3), surrendered just 24 touchdowns, and yielded 19.9 fantasy points per game to opposing receivers. They return their starting corners with Brandon Flowers and Jason Verrett. Flowers had a big season last year and defended really well after coming over from Kansas City in 2013 The Chargers signed him to a contract extension this offseason so they were quite pleased with his 2014 play as well.  Verrett was showing some promise before suffering a season ending shoulder injury. They also added Patrick Robinson that will line up as a slot corner. Robinson came from the Saints where he showed some flashes of being a solid corner but battled with injuries which ultimately led to the team letting him go. Eric Weddle remains one of the top safeties in the league and should continue to prevent huge plays from happening.

Weaknesses

The weakness for the Chargers really boils down to injuries. Can the starting unit stay healthy and together throughout the season? They are a shallow unit when getting past their starters and some of the guys they are counting on have recent significant injury history.

Overall Outlook

This is an above average secondary that should continue to be a solid group. They only thing they lack on is the turnover department as they only intercepted the ball seven times. They have early matchups against receivers who will probably go underowned the first two weeks of the season in Calvin Johnson and A.J. Green. Monitor how Megatron and Tate perform against this secondary which will be telling how this unit should be performing going forward.
