Super Bowl 56 Futures Betting | The 3 Teams To Bet On For The Lombardi Trophy

Written By Juan Carlos Blanco on January 18, 2022

With the wild-card round now in the books, we’re down to eight teams in the National Football League postseason, which will culminate in Super Bowl LVI at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on February 13th.

Much like taking a stand on look-ahead lines during the regular season, investing in Super Bowl futures wagers can still offer a tangible NFL betting edge, even if the playoffs have already begun. Online sportsbooks all over the country have futures odds available throughout the postseason and you can wager on them until there are only two teams left.

At this stage of the postseason, the picture is clearer than the regular season but there are certainly still possible upsets in the making and unpredictable events that need to unfold. Here, we’re taking a look at the current odds and making a few Super Bowl LVI best bets based on the lines that are available to us.

2022 Super Bowl Predictions | Betting Picks Heading Into The Divisional Round Of NFL Playoffs

There are eight teams left in the race for the Lombardi Trophy, so there are a few directions you can go with futures picks at this stage. Below, we are breaking down our current Super Bowl best bets which include the favorite, a dark horse, and the team we feel has the best value currently.

The Super Bowl Favorite: Green Bay Packers ()

The Packers tuned up for the postseason with a strong first-half showing by their starters against the Lions in Week 18 and after a well-earned bye week, they now know they’ll face the 49ers at Lambeau Field in the divisional round.

Green Bay escaped with a 30-28 road win against San Francisco back in Week 3 at Levi’s Stadium and the Pack will be tough to topple at Lambeau in January, especially with the three other remaining contestants in the NFC field being warm-weather clubs.

The Pack’s lethal combination of a balanced offense and a versatile defense capable of slowing down both the run and pass also give them a solid chance of getting the best of any AFC opponent put in front of them in the Super Bowl. With a healthy Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams, AJ Dillon, and Aaron Jones, Green Bay is even a match for the Chiefs’ potent array of offensive weaponry in a potential Super Bowl LVI clash.

Current Super Bowl Best Value Bet: Los Angeles Rams ()

The Rams punched their ticket to the divisional round with a convincing Wild Card win over the Cardinals, one they accomplished with only modest contributions from their high-powered offense. Instead, it was Los Angeles’ defense, which has plenty of big names but hasn’t always played up to its potential, which dialed things up a notch by picking off Kyler Murray twice and sacking him on a pair of occasions as well.

If L.A. can keep that same caliber of play going the remainder of the postseason, they certainly have the offense to complement it. Matthew Stafford and the NFL’s top receiver by the numbers, Cooper Kupp, are a lethal combination, while Odell Beckham appears to be getting increasingly comfortable in the team’s offense. Van Jefferson and Tyler Higbee are also high-upside complementary options in the air attack.

Los Angeles has quite an effective 1-2 punch in the backfield as well, giving them the all-important ground component that offers a chance to control games and protect leads in the postseason. Cam Akers was able to handle a significant boost in workload Monday night after making his season debut in Week 18, logging 17 carries and a 40-yard reception versus Arizona.

With fresh legs and the highly capable Sony Michel around to help shoulder the workload, Akers could be one those postseason X-factors that could make Sean McVay’s club hard to slow down.

Super Bowl Darkhorse Candidate: Cincinnati Bengals ()

The Bengals have a tough but winnable matchup in front of them in the Titans during the upcoming divisional round, one which they enter as only narrow underdogs. If Cincy is able to get past that hurdle, there will admittedly be an even steeper one in the form of the Bills or Chiefs in the AFC title contest.

Nevertheless, Cincinnati boasts a high-powered offense and a sneaky-good defense that’s played its best ball on the road by far and could help make up for any errors committed by the team’s highly talented but young skill-position players.

The Bengals also have their memorable 34-31 win in Week 17 over the Chiefs to give them some confidence should they have to go into Arrowhead, while a matchup against the Bills at New Era Field, admittedly a heavy lift, would still be one where Cincinnati would have a chance given its ability to attack with three potent receivers and a versatile back in Joe Mixon.

The Bengals’ No. 10-ranked defense in yards allowed per road game (328.3) and No. 2- ranked unit in points per road game surrendered (17.0) would also afford Zac Taylor’s squad a fighting chance in any remaining game, given they would all be outside Paul Brown Stadium.
