Super Bowl 56 Futures Betting | Are Cardinals Currently The Best Bet To Lift Lombardi Trophy?

Written By Juan Carlos Blanco on December 12, 2021 - Last Updated on December 14, 2021

The exciting and unpredictable 2021 NFL regular season is on the fast track to the playoffs, with a multitude of teams in either conference still very much in the running for a postseason that culminates in Super Bowl LVI at Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium on February 13th, 2022.

While there are still several Sundays of NFL betting left in the regular season, investing in Super Bowl futures wagers with several weeks still left in the campaign can offer sharp bettors a tangible edge at online sportsbooks across the United States.

Here’s an early-December perspective on some teams that deserve serious consideration if investing in Super Bowl futures before the regular season comes to a close.

Super Bowl LVI Betting Odds

2022 Super Bowl Predictions | Betting Picks Based On Early December Odds

Super Bowl betting odds can fluctuate week to week depending on each team’s results down the stretch but those with long-term convictions forged by what is now a fairly robust sample size of games can reap the benefits of a price that’s sure to shrink over the coming weeks as teams continue to inch closer to a possible championship game appearance.

Below, we preview the current favorite, our current best bet, and a dark horse to look out for based on where the odds stand in early December with a few weeks left in the regular season.

Current Super Bowl Favorite: Tampa Bay Buccaneers ()

The defending champs have an even more efficient Tom Brady than last season and boast a 10-3 record heading into Week 15, making their favorite status unsurprising. The Bucs still have a shot at finishing with the NFC’s best mark – they’re only a game behind the Cardinals with five contests remaining for each team – and once again sport one of the league’s most aggressive defenses to complement their offensive firepower.

Naturally, they also have a massive intangible on their side in Brady, whose vast postseason experience, indomitable will to win and still-elite talent level gives them a chance in any matchup.

Brady looks more comfortable than ever in coach Bruce Arians’ offensive system now that he’s well into his second season within it, as his career-high 68.3 percent completion rate attests. Even with Tampa Bay currently forced to operate without Antonio Brown (ankle/suspension), Brady has found a way to make up for the lost production by keeping his prolific connection with tight end Rob Gronkowski vibrant when not looking to his outstanding top receiver duo of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

On the other side of the ball, a defense that picked off 15 passes and recorded 35 sacks through 13 games appears capable of wreaking more than enough havoc to hold its own in any matchup, including a potential rematch with the Chiefs to decide the Lombardi Trophy winner.

Current Super Bowl Best Bet: Arizona Cardinals ()

Where things currently stand, our best bet to lift the Lombardi Trophy is the Arizona Cardinals around +800 at most betting sites.

The fact the Cardinals have up to the fifth-longest SB LVI winner odds at some sportsbooks really makes them pop, as Arizona owned the NFL’s best record at 10-2 heading into Week 14, and that’s with Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins both recently missing three games simultaneously. All Kliff Kingsbury’s club did during that stretch is go 2-1 while notching a pair of road divisional victories over the 49ers and Seahawks.

Despite losing in Week 14 to the Rams, Arizona still leads the division and if anything, the loss improved the team’s Super Bowl odds, which climbed from +800 to around +1000. The Cardinals will need to continue stacking wins to ensure they finish ahead of the Packers and Buccaneers for a home-field edge in the playoffs, with Green Bay owning the head-to-head tiebreaker.

Given Murray and Hopkins appear back to health and Chase Edmonds is on the verge of a return from injured reserve, Arizona seems primed for the stretch run and could certainly run the table if they don’t have to leave the desert until the Big Game.

Darkhorse Candidate: Los Angeles Rams ()

The Rams will get a good grasp on their viability as a potential Super Bowl winner when they get another crack at the division-leading Cardinals in Week 14.

Now that the Rams knocked off the Cardinals in Week 14, Los Angeles seems like a viable candidate once again, although we had mentioned them even before that win. Earlier in the season, the Rams’ SB LVI odds were much shorter as Sean McVay’s club jumped out to a 7-1 record. After dipping in recent weeks, Los Angeles’ line has shorted back to +1100, which still has value.

If Odell Beckham can continue to successfully integrate into the offense and Van Jefferson’s emergence as a deep threat persists to compliment Cooper Kupp’s all-world talents, Matthew Stafford seemingly has the talent to capitalize and get the Rams on a run.

The Darrell Henderson-Sony Michel backfield duo and a defense that’s underachieved at times but is still above average line up as excellent complementary components that could enable what would now be a somewhat surprising championship run, though getting them at well over +1000 is still valuable.

Super Bowl LVI Futures: Honorable Mentions

Buffalo Bills (): Much like the Rams, Sean McDermott’s club has lost some luster as the season has gone on, but a potent offense and stalwart defense that travels well gives Buffalo a fighting chance.

New England Patriots (): A Week 13 win over Buffalo gave the Patriots the AFC’s top mark at 9-4 and clear path to homefield advantage throughout the postseason, while a defense that’s developed into arguably the NFL’s best is capable of unsettling any offense put in front of it.
