2021 NFL Week 14 Survivor Picks | Seahawks Are Worth A Shot

While there are always tons of options for bettors to choose from at online sportsbooks, there are other ways to make money while watching football, even if you aren’t looking at NFL odds and placing moneyline or spread bets.

One of the most popular alternatives for those who want weekly action on NFL games is a season-long survivor pool. Now that we’ve reached December on the calendar and Week 14 of the National Football League season, anyone who is still alive in their survivor pool (also known as a knockout pool) has gone a very long way, and it’s likely coming down to the wire.

Below, we’ll get into what these pools are, plus we’ll offer up several games as ones to consider or avoid entirely when making your Week 14 NFL survivor picks.

NFL Week 14 Survivor Pool Picks

Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans () – Sunday, 1 p.m. ET

The Titans have burned survivor backers twice with absurd losses to the Jets and Texans but if you’re still alive, you opted to avoid Tennessee those weeks. Now, you get the Titans in a cupcake matchup at home against a Jaguars team that is 0-5 while scoring 14.6 PPG and giving up 30.6 PPG on the road.

Jacksonville ranks dead last in DVOA pass defense and allows the highest completion rate (71%) to opposing QBs. On the road, the Jags are yielding 8.1 yards per attempt and a 113.6 passer rating with a 9:0 TD:INT ratio.

Ryan Tannehill has completed 74% of his passes at 10.3 yards per completion with a 9:0 TD:INT ratio and 140.7 passer rating over four meetings with Jacksonville since joining the Titans. A.J. Brown (chest) is out at least one more game, but Julio Jones (hamstring) could return to give Tennessee a downfield threat.

Tennessee’s offense will only have to play complementary football with the Titans defense likely to dominate. Keith Byard should return from the COVID/Reserve List to spark a unit that was rolling earlier this season. Tennessee is giving up the seventh-fewest rushing YPG (97.8) and the Titans have 22 sacks over their last eight games.

Trevor Lawrence has avoided sacks for the most part but is not getting much time in the pocket and is posting an unsightly 56.8% completion rate on the road.

Seattle Seahawks at Houston Texans () – Sunday, 1 p.m. ET

If you have the Packers left, Green Bay (-12) at home against the Bears on Sunday night is certainly close to a lock. If you’re looking for less obvious options at this late juncture in the season, the Seahawks are a fine bet to maintain their momentum after upsetting the 49ers last week.

Russell Wilson finally returned to his superstar level of play with 231 yards and 2 TDs while completing 30 of 37 passes in the 30-23 win over San Francisco. Despite his struggles in previous weeks, he’s still sporting a 9:2 TD:INT ratio on the road this season and owns a 120.3 passer rating with 30 TD passes over his last 11 games against AFC competition.

Houston’s offense completely flatlined last week when Tyrod Taylor (wrist) was forced out of a shutout loss to the Colts. The Texans are averaging just 177.7 total YPG over their last three contests and are 0-6 with just 61.2 rushing YPG in games without Taylor. Seattle’s offense hasn’t been much better, but they have a future Hall of Fame QB, two talented receivers, and a legendary RB in Adrian Peterson. Houston hardly has any weapons.

New York Giants at Los Angeles Chargers () – Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET

The Chargers roared to a 24-0 lead in Cincinnati before giving up 22 unanswered points in a shaky performance last Sunday. Now they return home to a stadium that usually features more fans for the opposition and will certainly be partial towards the Giants.

The G-Men have really struggled on offense lately, but Daniel Jones (neck) should be back this week and he can get away with mostly handing the ball off to Saquon Barkley since the Chargers rank dead last in DVOA rush defense and cough up the second-most rushing YPG (141.2) this season.

Justin Herbert has looked extremely sharp when facing certain defensive schemes, while savvy coaches like Bill Belichick, John Harbaugh, and Mike Zimmer have made him look bad at times. Joe Judge is an above-average coach, especially when it comes to defensive game plans. His Giants rank seventh in DVOA pass defense and allow just 6.3 yards per completion, good for eighth in the NFL.

If the Giants (+10) can force Herbert to take underneath throws, they could muck this game up and keep it Under the implied total of 45.5 points, giving them a good chance to cover and potentially win.

2021 NFL Survivor Pool Rules

The format for survivor pools is pretty self-explanatory. In order to survive, you must pick one NFL team each week to win their game. The catch is that each team can only be used once, limiting the number of choices you have as the season progresses. The last person standing wins the jackpot, which usually consists of entry fees paid by everyone in the pool.

Each week, we offer multiple survivor selections of varying risks. This includes the pick we’re most confident in along with an option that could offer leverage to help you save the elite teams for a later game. Our third and final selection is a land mine pick, which indicates a team you may want to stay away from this week.

If you are interested in betting on sports, this information can still be valuable. Feel free to take this analysis and head over to some of the leading brands in the industry including DraftKings, FanDuel, or BetMGM, which have a huge range of betting options for every NFL game. Many of these sites also have free-to-play survivor pools, which don’t require an entry fee.
