Week 17 of NFL DFS is here, and we’re looking to cash in on the big daily fantasy football money at FanDuel. Now through the playoffs, we’ll bring you our top NFL DFS GPP picks for each position and recommend some cash plays as well.
As with any daily fantasy sport, the advice below is relevant for fantasy purposes. A player or team might be better or worse from a fantasy perspective than in real life due to matchup, price, game flow, and several more factors. This viewpoint is important to remember when constructing a roster on any of the daily fantasy sites.
FanDuel DFS Week 17 Tournaments
FanDuel DFS Quarterback Picks
Ben Roethlisberger vs. CIN $8.7K
The Pittsburgh Steelers are in a must-win situation, and Ben Roethlisberger has the best matchup on the slate. The opposing Bengals have allowed the most yards and the third-most passing yards. They have also allowed the most points and the second-most fantasy points to quarterbacks. Football Outsiders has them as the worst DVOA defense in the league. Big Ben ranks first in yards, passing attempts, and completions.
Jameis Winston vs. ATL $7.6K
Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ head coach Dirk Koetter suggested that backup quarterback Ryan Griffin could play a few snaps this Sunday against the Falcons. That makes Jameis Winston a tournament play only and one you’ll likely get with low ownership right now. This is still a very friendly fantasy game for Winston and the Buccaneers, as the total of 51 is the second highest on the slate. Atlanta has allowed the sixth-most yards, eighth-most passing yards, and they have surrendered the fourth-most fantasy points to QBs. Winston always finishes near the top of the league in passing attempts, and he torched ATL earlier this season: 395 yards and 4 TDs. I think he’ll do enough in this game to return value.
Cash game QBs to consider: Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, Josh Allen, Nick Foles, Matt Ryan
FanDuel DFS Running Back Picks
Chris Carson vs. ARI $6.4K
Chris Carson has at least 22 rushing attempts and 90 rushing yards in each of his last three games. He found the end zone four times over those three games, and he’s touched the ball 55 times in his last two contests. Arizona just allowed C.J. Anderson to run all over them last week, and as a result, they have allowed a league-high 557 rushing yards to RBs in the last four weeks. Seattle needs this game, and there’s no reason to go away from Carson.
Jamaal Williams vs. DET $6.8K
Jamaal Williams remains underpriced and is a lock for another 15 touches this week. Williams has a rushing touchdown in each of his past two games, and he’s totaled 27 carries with 10 catches over that span. He’s getting all the work in the red zone and in the passing game. He had nine targets and six catches last week. It looks like Randall Cobb and Equanimeous St. Brown will be sidelined, so Williams will continue to get work.
C.J. Anderson vs. SF $6.2K
It looks like Todd Gurley will miss his second straight game, and if that’s the case you take the free square that is C.J. Anderson. He’s not going to rack up 167 rushing yards again, but he proved to the Rams’ coaching staff they can lean on him. Anderson had 20 carries last week, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see him get another 15 this week on a team with the second-highest team implied total (30.5).
Cash game RBs to consider: Melvin Gordon, Sony Michel, Saquon Barkley, James Conner, David Johnson, Gus Edwards, Elijah McGuire, Jeff Wilson Jr.
FanDuel DFS Wide Receiver Picks
Robert Foster vs. MIA $5.8K
Robert Foster has the highest aDOT (25.6) among wideouts with 30 targets, and he catches a break this week as Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard is unlikely to play. Foster has at least 94 yards in four of his last six games, and he has 15 grabs for 264 yards in his last three games.
Chris Godwin vs. ATL $5.1K
Chris Godwin has three catches in his last two games, so I highly doubt many will go back to him this week. The matchup is much nicer, and DeSean Jackson is unlikely to play. Godwin has at least 90 yards in three of the five games Jackson has missed over the last two seasons.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling vs. DET $5.0K
Davante Adams is the obvious wideout to stack with Aaron Rodgers, but keep Marquez Valdes-Scantling in mind. MVS gets to face a defense that ranks dead last in pass DVOA, according to Football Outsiders. As mentioned above, Randall Cobb and Equanimeous St. Brown are both doubtful due to concussions. MVS racked up five catches on nine targets for 75 yards last week. He posted two 100-yard games earlier in the season as well.
Cash game WRs to consider: Antonio Brown, Davante Adams, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Robert Woods, Julian Edelman, Mike Evans, Tyreek Hill, Kenny Golladay, DaeSean Hamilton, Kendrick Bourne
FanDuel DFS Tight End Picks
Evan Engram vs. DAL $5.9K
Evan Engram has at least 66 yards in four straight games and should continue to rack up targets with Odell Beckham Jr. sidelined. Engram has 14 catches on 18 targets in his last two games. Plus, Dallas will be resting players in this game.
Cash game TEs to consider: Zach Ertz, Travis Kelce, George Kittle, Chris Herndon, Gerald Everett
FanDuel Defense DFS Picks
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. CIN $4.6K
The Pittsburgh Steelers are huge home favorites in this game, and Cincinnati’s Jeff Driskel has thrown for fewer than 200 yards in four of his five starts filling in for Andy Dalton. Cincinnati will be playing from behind, and Driskel doesn’t have much to work with, so the Steelers should be able to dial up as much pressure as they want. That’ll force errors.
Cash game DSTs to consider: Houston Texans, Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles
