NHL DFS Centers
Charlie Coyle vs. FLA ($4.4 DK / $4.4 FD)
Charlie Coyle has taken advantage of Mikko Koivu’s absence in the last two games as he has a goal and an assist while playing 16 minutes in back-to-back games. Coyle took Koivu’s spot on the second line with Zach Parise and Nino Niederreiter, and the trio has combined for four goals and nine points in the past two games.
Max Domi vs. CAR ($5.2 DK / $6.3 FD)
The Montreal Canadiens return home to face the Carolina Hurricanes after a three-game road trip. Montreal played Carolina two weeks ago at home, and they put 49 shots on goal. Curtis McElhinney made 48 saves in that outing, but he won’t make the start tonight due to an injury. Petr Mrazek has allowed three or more goals in five of his 11 starts this season, and he has a .895 save percentage. Last season, he allowed three or more goals in 15 of his final 22 starts.
Others to consider: Jack Eichel, Steven Stamkos, Brayden Point, Connor McDavid, Mark Scheifele, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Eric Staal, Sebastian Aho, Ryan Johansen, Joe Pavelski
NHL DFS Wingers
Cam Atkinson vs. LA ($7.2 DK / $7.1 FD)
The Los Angles Kings will be without Alec Martinez, Dion Phaneuf, and potentially Drew Doughty tonight when they visit the Columbus Blue Jackets. That’s very good news for the Blue Jackets’ top line of Pierre-Luc Dubois, Cam Atkinson, and Artemi Panarin. All three are fantastic plays in this matchup. Panarin has 14 points in his last 11 games, and PLD has 13 points in his past 12 games. Then, there’s Atkinson, who has points in 13 of his past 14 games, with 13 goals, 21 points and 56 shots over that span. His 13 goals since Nov. 10th are tied for the most in the NHL.
Ondrej Palat vs. TOR ($4.9 DK / $4.7 FD)
There’s some value with Ondrej Palat’s price, and he has upside playing on a line with Steven Stamkos. Palat has two goals, five points, 10 shots, and six blocks in seven games since returning from an injury. The Toronto Maple Leafs are allowing the fifth-most shots per game, and the sixth-most high-danger chances at 5 on 5, per 60 minutes. Toronto’s 33 shots against per 60 minutes at 5 on 5 rank third.
Josh Leivo @ NSH ($3.4 DK / $3.2 FD)
Josh Leivo worked out for us on Tuesday, so let’s go back to him because he remains pretty cheap. This is a tougher matchup in Nashville, but Leivo has two goals, three points, and nine shots in four games with the Canucks. He continues to skate on a line with Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser. The trio has eight goals and 17 points over its four games together.
Colton Sissons vs. VAN ($4.2 DK / $3.6 FD)
Colton Sissons is another cheap play to consider in tournaments. Due to all the injuries in Nashville, Sissons is averaging a career-high 16:13 in ice time. He’s averaged 18:08 in November and 18:00 through five December games. Sissons is even getting time on the No. 1 power-play unit. He enters tonight’s game with two goals and four points over a current three-game point streak. The Canucks are allowing the 11th-most high danger chances per hour at 5 on 5, and they have surrendered the eighth-most goals per game. On top of that, they rank fourth in scoring chances against at 5 on 5.
Others to consider: Nikita Kucherov, Jeff Skinner, Timo Meier, Artemi Panarin, Zach Parise, Tomas Hertl, Brendan Gallagher, Jason Zucker, Jonathan Drouin, Mikael Granlund, Sam Reinhart, Craig Smith, Nino Niederreiter
NHL DFS Defensemen
Matt Dumba vs. FLA ($5.5 DK / $5.8 FD)
Matt Dumba is proving last season’s career-high 14 goals and 50 points were no fluke as he has 12 goals and 21 points through his first 30 games this season. He’s averaging a career-high 23:57 and has already tied his career high in power-play points with 12. Six of those 12 points have been goals, and he has nine total points in his last 10 games.
Darnell Nurse @ WPG ($5.0 DK / $4.0 FD)
This isn’t the best matchup for Darnell Nurse, but he’s about to rack up a ton of ice time over these next few weeks with Oscar Klefbom sidelined. Nurse played 30 minutes in Edmonton’s last game, and he found the scoresheet twice. The Oilers’ defenseman has two goals, five points, 15 shots and seven blocks in his last four games. Nurse’s ice time went up considerably last season when Klefbom was sidelined with a shoulder injury, and the counting stats increased as a result.
Others to consider: Seth Jones, Roman Josi, Shea Weber, Victor Hedman, Rasmus Ristolainen, Ryan Ellis, Ryan McDonagh, Josh Morrissey, Jake Muzzin
NHL DFS Goalies
Carey Price vs. CAR ($8.1 DK / $8.8 FD)
Carey Price has allowed two or fewer goals in three straight games and in five of his past seven starts. It’s been three goals or fewer for Price in seven straight outings after a slow start to the season. The Carolina Hurricanes average a league-high 38.4 shots per game, but they rank 28th in goals and dead last in shooting percentage. It’s unlikely to turn around either as they don’t have any elite scorers on their team.
Others to consider: Devan Dubnyk, Pekka Rinne, Sergei Bobrovsky
