NHL DFS Tournaments
NHL DFS Centers
Elias Pettersson @ ANH ($6.5 DK / $5.9 FD)
Elias Pettersson has had no problems adjusting to the NHL as he has 12 goals and 19 points in his first 17 NHL games. The 20-year-old has power play goals in back-to-back games and is underpriced on FanDuel. The Anaheim Ducks are playing without their two best defensemen in Cam Fowler and Hampus Lindholm. They already rank top five in shots against, scoring chances against, and high-danger chances against at 5 on 5. No team in the NHL has allowed more scoring chances than Anaheim.
Lars Eller vs. CHI ($5.4 DK / $4.3 FD)
Lars Eller played a season-high 22 minutes in his last game, and he spent some time skating alongside Alex Ovechkin. He’s expected to center Ovechkin tonight if Evgeny Kuznetsov misses another game. Eller has played at least 20 minutes in both games that Kuznetsov has missed, as reports suggest he could be dealing with a concussion. Chicago has allowed the fourth-most scoring chances and high-danger scoring chances per hour, at 5 on 5. Ovechkin is a strong play, and Eller makes for a sneaky GPP play.
Others to consider: Tyler Seguin, Jack Eichel, Brayden Point, Nicklas Backstrom, Eric Staal, Dylan Larkin, Mathew Barzal, Kevin Hayes, Mikko Koivu, William Karlsson
NHL DFS Wingers
Chris Kreider vs. NYI ($6.3 DK / $6.5 FD)
Chris Kreider leads the New York Rangers in goals (11) and points (18). He’s second on the team in power-play points (7) and shots (54). Kreider enters tonight with five goals and nine points in his last seven games. The Rangers rank third in high-danger chances for and the New York Islanders rank 10th in high danger chances against, per 60 minutes at 5 on 5. They also rank inside the top in shots against and scoring chances against per 60 minutes at even strength. These two teams combined for 12 goals in a game last week, and their 6.5 total in this game is the highest on the slate.
Max Pacioretty @ ARI ($4.8 DK / $5.6 FD)
Max Pacioretty has shown signs of turning things around with goals in back-to-back games and four points over his last four contests, after only registering two points in his first 14 games. Pacioretty has always been a streaky scorer, so he’s priced as a guy in a slump, not as a former five-time 30-goal scorer. Vegas ranks fifth in scoring chances and high-danger chances at 5 on 5, per 60 minutes. They were a bit lucky last season, and so far this season it’s been the complete opposite. Meanwhile, Arizona has allowed the sixth-most shots against and third-most high-danger chances against per hour. I’d even take a look at Reilly Smith, who has four points in his past two games.
Ondrej Kase vs. VAN ($5.1 DK / $3.0 FD)
Ondrej Kase has only played four games this season, but he has 21 shots in those four games. He scored a goal in his last game and played a season-high 18 minutes. His hot play has him on the Ducks’ top line with Ryan Getzlaf and Rickard Rakell. Vancouver has allowed the second-most goals per game and has given up the second-most scoring chances per game at 5 on 5.
Others to consider: Alex Ovechkin, Nikita Kucherov, Taylor Hall, Gabriel Landeskog, Jamie Benn, Zach Parise, Mikael Granlund, Anders Lee, Brendan Gallagher, Anthony Mantha, Craig Smith
NHL DFS Defensemen
Matt Dumba vs. OTT ($6.0 DK / $5.5 FD)
Matt Dumba has five goals, eight points, and 36 shots in his past 10 games while averaging 24 minutes a game. He has three goals and 19 shots over a current four-game point streak. Minnesota is definitely in play as Ottawa has allowed the most shots and goals per game.
Torey Krug @ DET ($5.5 DK / $5.7 FD)
Torey Krug is in for a lot of ice time with Charlie McAvoy and Zdeno Chara sidelined. Krug has played at least 25 minutes in two of his past three games and has six points in nine games this season.
Others to consider: John Carlson, Victor Hedman, Neal Pionk, Miro Heiskanen, Ryan Ellis, Shea Theodore, Brandon Montour, Drew Doughty
NHL DFS Goalies
Frederik Andersen @ CAR ($8.2 DK / $8.9 FD)
The Toronto Maple Leafs are allowing the fifth-most chances at 5 on 5, and Carolina ranks first in shots for, scoring chances for, and high-danger scoring chances for. Usually, that makes me want to shy away from a goalie, but, in this case, I’m going to go against the grain in tournaments. Andersen is 12-5-0 on the season with a 2.08 GAA and .935 SV%, despite Toronto allowing the 10th-most shots per game. The Hurricanes may get their chances, but they rank 27th in goals per game. Andersen has had at least 36 saves and eight DraftKings points in four of his past five starts.
Others to consider: Devan Dubnyk, Marc-Andre Fleury, Louis Domingue (GPP), Semyon Varlamov
