Week 8 of NFL DFS is here, and we’re looking to cash in on the big daily fantasy football money at FanDuel. Now through the playoffs, we’ll bring you our top NFL DFS GPP picks for each position and recommend some Cash plays as well.
As with any daily fantasy sport, the advice below is relevant for fantasy purposes. A player or team might be better or worse from a fantasy perspective than in real life due to matchup, price, gameflow, and several more factors. This is important to remember when constructing a roster on any of the daily fantasy sites.
FanDuel DFS Week 8 Tournaments
FanDuel DFS Quarterback Picks
Jameis Winston @ CIN ($7.8K)
Jameis Winston has thrown the ball 93 times in his two starts, totaling 760 yards with five total touchdowns. Winston is going to continue to throw the ball because he has no run game and his defense has allowed the most passing yards and points per game. The Buccaneers are allowing the most fantasy points per game to QBs and the second most to WRs, so Andy Dalton and the Bengals are going to get theirs. Winston had at least 299 passing yards in seven of his 13 games last season with a bum shoulder. It should be no surprise if Winston hits 300 yards passing for the third straight game. Cincinnati has allowed the second-most yards per game, the fourth-most passing yards per game, and the fifth-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks.
Aaron Rodgers @ LAR ($8.6K)
I’d imagine Aaron Rodgers takes great pleasure in being a 9.5-point underdog. In fact, this is the biggest underdog game of his career. He’s coming off a bye, is getting Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison back, and he’ll have to throw a ton to keep pace. The Los Angeles Rams enter with the highest team-implied total at 34.5. Rodgers’ defense has put him in a position, where he’s had to throw 98 times for 867 yards in his last two games.
Cash game QBs to consider: Patrick Mahomes, Andy Dalton, Jared Goff, Ben Roethlisberger, Andrew Luck
FanDuel DFS Running Back Picks
Kareem Hunt vs. DEN ($8.1K)
At some point, Todd Gurley will have a mediocre game, and it’ll be another back who puts up a tournament-winning performance. Hunt is nearly $3K cheaper than Gurley in a much better matchup. The Denver Broncos have allowed the second-most rushing yards per game and the seventh-most fantasy points per game to running backs. They rank 28th in rush DVOA defense, according to Football Outsiders. Last season’s leading rusher has at least 80 rushing yards in four straight games and at least 130 total yards in three of his past four games. He’s coming off a three-touchdown game, which may spike his ownership, but overall he has a TD in six straight games…so it hardly matters.
James Conner vs. CLE ($8.0K)
The Cleveland Browns have surrendered the second-most rushing touchdowns (10), as well as the fifth-most rushing yards per game. On the season, they are allowing the 10th-most fantasy points to running backs. Part of that has to do with James Conner, who racked up 182 total yards on 36 touches in Week 1 in Cleveland. It was one of Conner’s three multi-touchdown games this season. Conner ranks fifth in touches with 129 and 85 percent of the Steelers’ snaps, which is the third highest among backs.
Cash game RBs to consider: Todd Gurley, Joe Mixon, Saquon Barkley, Chris Carson, David Johnson, Phillip Lindsay (with no Royce Freeman), Raheem Mostert (with no Matt Breida)
FanDuel DFS Wide Receiver Picks
Davante Adams @ LAR ($8.6K)
As mentioned above, Rodgers is getting a couple of his weapons back, but none has more upside than Davante Adams. Adams has at least five grabs and eight targets in every game; plus, he enters with six touchdowns. His 15 red zone targets are one behind the league-lead after racking up 23 last season (third-most). Rodgers likes to call his own number when inside the red zone, and he likes to look Adams’ way. He has 19 catches and 172 yards with three touchdowns in his last two games. His 19.2 FanDuel points per game are 0.3 back of Tyreek Hill for the most points per game on the main slate among WRs.
Chris Godwin @ CIN ($6.3K)
Mike Evans is the obvious stack with Jameis, but Chris Godwin has value and upside given the price and matchup. Godwin has four touchdowns in six games and the third-most targets (8) inside the 10-yard line among wideouts. The 56 percent of snaps he played last week were the second most he’s played in a game and were more than DeSean Jackson’s. Godwin has 15 targets, 11 catches, and 100 yards in his two starts with Winston.
Martavis Bryant vs. IND ($5.3K)
This is as cheap as I would go at WR without it being a shot in the dark. Bryant is extremely affordable for those who like to sprinkle in some long shot lineups in tournaments. The Oakland Raiders have allowed the seventh-most yards per game and the fourth-most points per game. Andrew Luck is feeling it and has started to get some of his weapons back, so Oakland will have to play catchup. That’s not great news, as they traded away their number one wide receiver and lost their starting running back this week. Doug Martin doesn’t pose much of a threat on the ground, so expect a few more targets for Jalen Richard, Jared Cook, and Martavis Bryant. The formers Steelers’ wideout has a career 15.3 yards per catch average and reminded us of his big-game ability two games ago when he had 91 yards.
Cash game WRs to consider: A.J. Green, Antonio Brown, Robert Woods, Mike Evans, T.Y. Hilton, Emmanuel Sanders, Jarvis Landry
FanDuel DFS Tight End Picks
David Njoku @ PIT ($5.7K)
The Pittsburgh Steelers are allowing the sixth-most passing yards per game and the third-most fantasy points to tight ends. In his four games with Baker Mayfield, Njoku has 35 targets, 22 catches, and at least 50 yards a game. He also has a touchdown in back-to-back games.
C.J. Uzomah vs. TB ($5.4K)
C.J. Uzomah has some appeal if you’re looking to save some cash. He caught only two passes last week, but one came in the red zone, which resulted in a touchdown. Uzomah is a red zone option for Andy Dalton, with Tyler Eifert and Tyler Kroft sidelined. C.J. has caught 10 of his 11 targets for 110 yards since taking over as the full-time starter. Tampa Bay has allowed a league-high 16 fantasy points per game to the position.
Cash game TEs to consider: Travis Kelce, O.J. Howard, Jared Cook, George Kittle
FanDuel Defense DFS Picks
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. CLE ($3.8K)
Baker Mayfield hasn’t been all that efficient since taking over as the starting QB in Cleveland. He has thrown six interceptions and lost four fumbles. No other team has allowed as many sacks as the Browns, and the Steelers enter with the second-most sacks as a defense.
Cash game DSTs to consider: Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts
