2021 NFL Week 10 Survivor Picks | Can The Cowboys Bounce Back?

Posted By Nate Weitzer on November 8, 2021 - Last Updated on November 9, 2021

The National Football League is past the halfway point of its first 17-game season with Week 10 coming up. While there are always tons of options for bettors to choose from at online sportsbooks in many different states, there are other ways to make money while watching football, even if you aren’t looking at the NFL betting odds and placing moneyline or spread bets.

One of the most popular alternatives for those who want weekly action on NFL games is a season-long survivor pool. Below, we’ll get into what these pools are, plus we’ll offer up several games as ones to consider or avoid entirely when making your Week 10 NFL survivor picks.

2021 NFL Survivor Pool Rules

The format for survivor pools is pretty self-explanatory. In order to survive, you must pick one NFL team each week to win their game. The catch is that each team can only be used once, limiting the number of choices you have as the season progresses. The last person standing wins the jackpot, which usually consists of entry fees paid by everyone in the pool.

Each week, we offer multiple survivor selections of varying risks. This includes the pick we’re most confident in along with an option that could offer leverage to help you save the elite teams for a later game. Our third and final selection is a land mine pick, which indicates a team you may want to stay away from this week.

If you are interested in betting on sports, this information can still be valuable. Feel free to take this analysis and head over to some of the leading brands in the industry including DraftKings, FanDuel, or BetMGM, which have a huge range of betting options for every NFL game. Many of these sites also have free-to-play survivor pools, which don’t require an entry fee.

NFL Week 10 Survivor Pool Picks

Atlanta Falcons at Dallas Cowboys ()

Our lock went down for the first time this season when the Broncos upset the Cowboys in Dallas and chances are, if you’re reading this, you went with the Colts or another good choice on a Week 9 full of upsets. The Cowboys are highly unlikely to drop consecutive home games in this spot with the Falcons facing a potential let down after their upset win in New Orleans.

Dak Prescott had the worst first half of his career and finished with only a pair of garbage-time touchdowns to salvage his day, yet he said his injured calf was not the issue. If he gets Tyron Smith (ankle) back to guard his blind side, Prescott should shred a Falcons team that ranks 29th in DVOA pass defense.

The Falcons’ pass defense is producing the lowest sack rate (3.7%) in the NFL and giving up a healthy 123.1 rushing YPG as well. Dallas is still averaging 34.3 PPG and 171 rushing yards per game at home this season and was still getting 4.9 YPC against Denver with their elite LT inactive.

Concerned about Atlanta gashing Dallas on the ground the same way Denver rolled for 190 yards? That’s highly unlikely with the Falcons producing the second-fewest YPC (3.4) and fourth-fewest rushing YPG (80.4) on the season. Matt Ryan had his moments in New Orleans last week but will start to struggle in a one-dimensional attack without Calvin Ridley.

Detroit Lions at Pittsburgh Steelers ()

The Steelers are riding a wave of momentum that should only be stronger after Chicago’s comeback bid came up just short at the buzzer on Monday night. Pittsburgh has won four straight games and is unlikely to lapse at home against the only winless team in the NFL.

Detroit is 5-28 when listed as underdogs since 2019 and is close to the bottom of the NFL in just about every major category this season. They’re giving up the second-most PPG (30.5), the most yards per pass (8.8), and allowing a league-high 83.3% TD conversion rate when opponents get into the red zone. Pittsburgh’s defense is allowing the second-lowest TD conversion rate (47.6%) in the red zone. T.J. Watt and this defense own the seventh-best sack rate (7.25%) and Jared Goff has been sacked 23 times through eight games.

Carolina Panthers at Arizona Cardinals ()

The stock has never been lower in Sam Darnold and the Panthers’ offense, but with Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) back in the lineup, anything is possible. McCaffrey only played 49% of offensive snaps last week and Darnold produced another stinker against Bill Belichick. It seems like a long shot that he bounces back against Arizona’s second-ranked DVOA pass defense, yet those are the type of surprises we’ve seen towards the midpoint of the longest season in NFL history.

Kyler Murray (ankle) and DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) will both be questionable leading into this matchup and Arizona might not be able to pull out consecutive wins without their star connection. The Cardinals are 6-5 as home favorites since Kliff Kingsbury took over in 2019 and have had an incredible first half of the season, but they’re still not a proven commodity.
