MLB DFS & Lineups & Picks for September 25, 2018

There are 14 games on the main MLB DFS slate for Tuesday, 9/25/18. Below is a list of our best MLB DFS picks for pitchers, hitters, and stacks to target in Cash and GPP lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Please note the advice below is relevant for daily fantasy purposes. A player or team might be better or worse from a fantasy perspective than in real life due to matchup, price, and lots of other factors. This is important to consider when constructing a roster. Remember that more than in other sports, variance is a huge part of baseball. Even Mike Trout can go 0-for-4 on a given night, and Max Scherzer can get lit up by a weak team.

Weather can also play a huge role in MLB DFS on a nightly basis, and lineups are constantly shifting. So always, always check the starting lineups and weather reports when playing for an MLB slate. If a game gets rained out, your player gets zero points!

Best MLB DFS Pitchers for September 25, 2018

Max Scherzer vs. MIA ($12.8k DraftKings, $12.4k FanDuel)

While the Nationals are essentially out of the playoff race, Max Scherzer still has plenty left to prove. He’s neck-and-neck with Mets ace Jacob deGrom for the N.L. CY Young award, and that should motivate him to try and shut down the Marlins in another dominant effort. Scherzer is 4-0 with a 2.67 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in four starts against Miami this season, and the Marlins are obviously one of the worst offensive teams in baseball. He’s projected for 25.3 DraftKings points on RotoQL tonight. That’s a very conservative estimate considering he’s averaging 25.6 DK PPG over his last 10 starts despite a rare blip in Atlanta.

Masahiro Tanaka @ TB ($9.8k DraftKings, $10.7k FanDuel)

The Rays have been a tough lineup to navigate for most pitchers over the past couple of months, but Masahiro Tanaka matches up well against Tampa. He’s 1-1 with 15 Ks and 2 ER allowed over 15 IP against the Rays this season and is an impressive 7-0 with a 9.59 K/9 ratio and 0.94 WHIP on the road. Tanaka’s handled the Rays because he’s holding LHBs to a weak .227/.281/.368 slash line. He’s also hardly giving up any long balls (0.82 HR/9 ratio) on the road against lefties.

David Price vs. BAL ($9.5k DraftKings, $9.8k FanDuel)

He struggled at Yankee Stadium once again, but over his last 16 starts anywhere but the Bronx, David Price is 10-1 with a 2.04 ERA. He draws a cupcake matchup tonight against an Orioles team that is not only second-to-last in OBP (.298) overall but also in wOBA (.286) against LHPs this season. Current O’s are just 42-for-188 (.223) with 59 Ks in their careers against Price, and rapidly-aging sluggers Chris Davis and Adam Jones combine for 39 of those strikeouts, totaling a 34% K-Rate. Price is faring much better than most visiting pitchers with a 2.85 ERA and 1.04 WHIP at Fenway Park this season.

Other pitchers to consider: Walker Buehler, Chris Archer, Josh James, Gio Gonzalez

Best MLB DFS Hitters for September 25, 2018

Mike Trout vs. TEX ($5.8k DraftKings, $5.0k FanDuel)

Rangers RHP Yovani Gallardo is the gift that keeps giving in MLB DFS contests. He’s posting an 8.57 ERA and .310 BAA on the road this season, so it’s hardly surprising that Mike Trout leads all batters with a projection of 12.1 DraftKings points on RotoQL tonight. Trout is 4-for-9 over a small sample of at-bats against Gallardo, while Angels SS Andrelton Simmons (9-for-14) has owned the Texas righty. Stacking a few RHBs against Gallardo should pay off tonight considering he’s allowing righties to post a .413 wOBA with a 1.71 HR/9 ratio this season.

Yuli Gurriel @ TOR ($4.6k DraftKings, $3.7k FanDuel)

Yuli Gurriel is on another planet right now in terms of how hot his bat has been this week. He’s 15-for-34 (.442) with 3 doubles, 3 HR and 13 RBI over his last 8 appearances in the heart of a dangerous Astros lineup. Houston could serve as a great stack once again with vulnerable RHP Sam Gaviglio going for the Blue Jays. Gaviglio is posting a 5.79 ERA with a .302 BAA and 24.6% line drive rate since the ASB, which is way up from the 14.1% line drive rate he allowed during the first half of the season. Gurriel boasts a 25.8% line drive rate and 20.8% HR/FB ratio this month and is bound to produce when lacing the ball amid this lineup.

Jake Cave vs. DET ($4.0k DraftKings, $3.0k FanDuel)

A hard-swinging LHB with a 33.7% K-Rate and a 25.1% line drive rate during his rookie year, Jake Cave profiles as a classic boom-bust play to consider in GPP formats. He has the potential to boom tonight against a Minor-league caliber starter in Spencer Turnbull, who was roughed up for 6 ER over just 4 IP in his first MLB start against the Twins last Wednesday. Turnbull posted a 4.47 ERA over 19 starts at the AA level this season and has allowed a 96.8% Z-Contact Rate over 5 IP in the Majors. Cave didn’t muster anything against Turnbull last week but should be able to produce in this plus matchup now that he’s familiar with the weak starter.

Other hitters to consider: Charlie Blackmon, Trea Turner, Justin Bour, Alex Bregman, Michael Conforto, Ronald Acuna Jr., Lorenzo Cain, Asdrubal Cabrera, Matt Chapman, Yairo Munoz
