There was a ton of excitement this weekend and a hell of a lot money won. The big sites had all the GPP’s you could want and a little bit more. Two of the year’s biggest tournaments, Fanduel’s first Playboy Football Championship since they acquired the rights and Fantasy Aces first live final event, went down without a hitch and plenty of clenched teeth as the night went on. The rescheduled game had a massive effect on the usual Monday Night Sweats and there were some massive money swings late into Monday Night Football. NFL week 12 is in the books along with a few new daily fantasy football champions and millionaires. (Well just one millionaire)
The Playboy Football Championship
In the beautiful backyard of the Playboy Mansion, surrounded by Playboy bunnies, a fantasy football championship went down. This may be the first live final you’ve witnessed as a DFS player, I imagine there are a lot of you due to the huge growth this year, and if it is this was a great one to follow. Players are limited to Sunday only games which can lead to lower scores and higher ownership, both were true and the low owned stack got it done late. tbrau1 won the day and took home a cool $150k and clawed up from behind to do it. He cuffed Manning to Demaryius with the offensive support of C.J. Anderson their combined 87.28 points carried him to an almost 10 point victory. The second place finisher and winner of $80k, itzremu held first with a Keenan Allen TD until Denver’s dagger in the fourth, Manning to Welker to put tbrau1 in first. phdmnd placed third bringing in $50k riding the Sanchize and DT to take home one of those huge cool looking checks we all want. Paying up for Manning and Thomas was the right and contrarian thing to do. At 4% owned Manning was the top scoring QB in the tournament. Fleener went 69% owned so his bad game didn’t affect his lineup as much as it would in a larger field or two day tournament and 17% including the winner missed big on Shorts III as well but you can miss on high owned guys as long as you pull 43% of your score on a stack. Check out the results and 3 winning lineups below and start your planning and excuses to your wife for next year!
Fantasy Aces Football Championship
At American Junkie in Newport Beach Fantasy Aces held their first ever daily fantasy football live final. The event was a great success and it looks like all that attended are giving it the highest marks. There were only 13 entries but that gives it an even more intimate feel. Tipandpick took home the first ever comically large check given out by Fantasy Aces with a $40k winning lineup. He was the only player on the board with Eli and it totally paid off. He cuffed ODB with him and DT’s three TD’s and Eli’s almost mistake free day put him way, way up top. Both of his WR spots put up a 30 burger and we have a Fantasy Aces Football Champion. Here are the results and the winner’s lineup.
Fanduel still had its normal round of GPP’s and qualifiers. The Sunday Million has moved down to a total prize pool of $1.75 million cutting the top prize almost in half but for this weekend it awarded $300k to the winner. That winner was bigpapi44. He pulled out the old and not so faithful Brees and Graham who played like we all expected them to all year. It’s been boom or bust but the boom today was enough to win. Both players were under 10% owned, Brees going under 5%. Forsett had a day as well, finally finding the end zone twice and putting up 182 rushing yards. Great MNF sweat and come from behind victory. Here are the results.
Fanduel is still gearing up and getting players qualified for the even bigger FFFC later this year. We are getting close and seven more tickets to this amazing event were given out this past weekend. Here is the featured tournaments page and your list of winners below.
thesquirtlocker won the first $2 queue, Brees at home for the win. sintsrvc took down the second $2 queue with Eli and ODB launching him to the top. mhecht219 is the $5 qualifier with ODB and Gordon (who wasn’t on many winning lineups) and Delanie Walker who many thought wouldn’t play he was under 2% all over the industry. For only $10 bucks rebcub punched his FFFC ticket. bigmel911 rode the Manning/DT cuff to his ticket in the $25 queue. mirage8888 grabbed a ticket in the $200 qualifier with a pretty even lineup with only an Eric Decker bust. Brees and C.J. Anderson’s almost 30 points got it done along with 21 points from the Eagles kicker. The $1065 qualifier was taken down by ryanmax in another very well balanced lineup. No players under 10 points and only Brees under 10% ownership.
DraftKings may not have had a live event this weekend but they awarded 4 tickets to their championship King of the Beach in the Bahamas and they created another millionaire. The MNF games affected the millionaire in a major way as it seemed that it would come down to the last few minutes. The blowout in Detroit, by Buffalo, wasn’t expected based on ownership levels but a receiver from that game surely over preformed and went way under owned and made someone a million bucks.
As mentioned earlier Forsett found the end zone twice and it shifted thousands and hundreds of thousands of dollars around. DraftKing’s new millionaire Sradss1 sweat out MNF and it ended very, very well for him. His WR punt of Robert Woods at the low price of $3.4k went over 29 points and even a TE miss (which has happened many times over the last few weeks) didn’t hurt his score and he ended up winning the million by almost 10 points. Brees/Forsett/Boldin/Woods all under 10% ownership scoring a total of 129.8, more than 50% of the total points scored. ODB scored a ton as well all know by now and the only slot filled with an ownership over 20% was the 49ers D. Check out the lineup below and note how you take down a 70k plus entries with these picks. Also note this was his MAIN lineup.
Four tickets to the $2.5 Million Dollar King of the Beach Championship were awarded. The $12 queue was won by Okstatepdt holding onto the win throughout MNF. Forsett’s magic worked in the $27 queue as Mikelevytu vaulted to 1st with the 2nd TD. LeagueofShadows won the $200 ticket queue on the back of a 23.9% owned Kenny Stills whose 17.6 points pulled him into first by 0.26 points. Talk about a sweat, at that point all you may need is a REC, just crazy. Hardfor found a ticket in the $1k qualifier riding Tanehills 27 point day all the way to Atlantis.
A hardy Congrats to all the winners. This weeks sweat was as intense as it gets and it is what makes DFS so enjoyable. There are ups and downs, winners and losers, and a whole hell of a lot of respect to go around. Back to the grind as we look ahead to the next round of Fantasy Football Championships. Happy Grinding, Grinders.
