MLB DFS & Lineups & Picks for September 19, 2018

There are 10 games on the main MLB DFS slate for Wednesday, 9/19/18. Below is a list of our best MLB DFS picks for pitchers, hitters, and stacks to target in Cash and GPP lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Please note the advice below is relevant for daily fantasy purposes. A player or team might be better or worse from a fantasy perspective than in real life due to matchup, price, and lots of other factors. This is important to consider when constructing a roster. Remember that more than in other sports, variance is a critical part of baseball. Even Mike Trout can go 0-for-4 on a given night, and Max Scherzer can get lit up by an expected team.

Weather can also play a huge role in MLB DFS on a nightly basis, and lineups are constantly shifting. So always, always check the starting lineups and weather reports when playing an MLB slate.

Best MLB DFS Pitchers for September 19, 2018

Carlos Carrasco vs. CWS ($11.1 DK / $11.2 FD)

The White Sox have the highest strikeout rate, and tonight they’ll face Carlos Carrasco, who has the highest K/9 on the slate. Carrasco has a 10.53 K/9, which ranks 12th best in the Majors. Plus, he has 45 strikeouts in his last 32.2 innings. This will be Carrasco’s third start against Chicago this season, and he’s been brilliant in his previous two. The Cleveland pitcher has allowed five hits, zero runs, and has 20 strikeouts in 14 innings against them.

Chris Stratton @ SD ($8.4 DK / $7.2 FD)

Chris Stratton enters tonight’s start against the Padres with a 2.10 ERA and 0.73 WHIP in his last five starts. Stratton struck out only 25 batters in 34.1 innings over that span, but San Diego has the second highest K-rate in baseball. The Padres’ .293 wOBA ranks 28th, and Petco Park is one of the friendliest environments for pitchers. Stratton has allowed just two runs in his two outings (13.0) against SD this season, which included a seven-inning performance in which he allowed zero runs.

Chris Archer vs. KAN ($7.7 DK / $7.8 FD)

Much like Stratton, Chris Archer is easy on the wallet and allows you to do some creative things in tournaments on DraftKings. Archer is likely off everybody’s radar due to his recent struggles, but his ceiling remains high due to his 9.64 K/9. The Pirates’ pitcher enters with a 4.66 ERA, but 3.70 FIP. Kansas City doesn’t strike out much, but they don’t do a whole lot of anything. They rank in the bottom sixth in home runs, runs, and wOBA. Archer is the best value of the night, according to RotoQL.

Others to consider: Luis Severino, Walker Buehler, Cole Hamels, Dallas Keuchel

Best MLB DFS Hitters for September 19, 2018

Eugenio Suarez @ MIL ($4.6 DK / $3.6 FD)

If you played Eugenio Suarez on Monday, you were disappointed. Don’t let that get in the way of plugging him in again versus another lefty. Gio Gonzalez has a 6.00 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in his last 27 innings. Gonzalez has struggled with walks (4.33 B/9) all season, and he’s allowed 13 home runs in his last 18 starts. He’s also allowed at least five runs in five of his last 10 outings. Suarez’s .440 wOBA and 11 homers against LHPs ranks seventh. He’s simply not priced correctly on FanDuel.

Manny Machado vs. COL ($4.7 DK / $4.4 FD)

It doesn’t matter where Tyler Anderson pitches; he allows bombs. Anderson has a 4.52 ERA at home, which is understandable as he plays for Colorado, but he has a 5.87 ERA on the road. He’s allowed 13 of his 29 home runs on the road thanks in part to a 39.6 fly ball rate (17th highest). The Rockies’ lefty has given up 36 runs in his last eight outings, which works out to a 8.92 ERA. Five of those outings came away from Coors Field, so no excuses. There are a few Dodgers who crush lefties, and Manny Machado is one of them. Manny has a .305 average against LHPs his season and .285 for his career.

Gleyber Torres vs. BOS ($4.0 DK / $3.5 FD)

It may be considered a contrarian play to go after David Price tonight, but if you’ve watched him in his three starts against the Yankees, you’d feel different. Price allowed nine hits, eight runs, and five homers in his last outing in New York, lasting only 3.1 innings. He’s given up 16 hits, 14 runs, and six home runs in his 10.1 innings against them in 2018. Giancarlo Stanton leads the team with a .324 average and 12 homers against LHPs, but Gleyber Torres checks in second with a .274 average and 10 homeruns.

Josh Donaldson vs. CWS ($4.5 DK / $3.5 FD)

Dylan Covey has a crazy high 84.4 contact percentage, which is the third worst mark among pitchers with 100 innings. Covey may have a solid ground ball rate, but he gets hit hard (33.4%). He gave up five runs in 4.1 innings in his last outing against Kansas City. The last time Covey faced Cleveland he only lasted 2.2 innings after giving up six runs on seven hits. Most of the Cleveland bats are expensive, but there’s some value and upside with Josh Donaldson’s price. RotoQL has a generous projection for JD.

Others to consider: Francisco Cervelli, Gary Sanchez, Tyler White, Anthony Rizzo, Scooter Gennett, Brian Dozier, Ian Kinsler, Justin Turner, Travis Shaw, Marwin Gonzalez, Jean Segura, Giancarlo Stanton, Matt Kemp, Michael Brantley, Lorenzo Cain, Kris Bryant
