MLB DFS & Lineups & Picks for September 12, 2018

There are eight games on the main MLB DFS slate for Wednesday, 9/12/18. Below is a list of our best MLB DFS picks for pitchers, hitters, and stacks to target in Cash and GPP lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Please note the advice below is relevant for daily fantasy purposes. A player or team might be better or worse from a fantasy perspective than in real life due to matchup, price, and lots of other factors. This is important to consider when constructing a roster. Remember that more than in other sports, variance is a critical part of baseball. Even Mike Trout can go 0-for-4 on a given night, and Max Scherzer can get lit up by an unexpected team.

Weather can also play a huge role in MLB DFS on a nightly basis, and lineups are constantly shifting. So always, always check the starting lineups and weather reports when playing an MLB slate.

Best MLB DFS Pitchers for September 12, 2018

Aaron Nola vs. WAS ($11.2 DK / $11.2 FD)

Aaron Nola has a 2.34 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, and 47 strikeouts in his last 34.2 innings. That’s a span of five starts, and two of those outings came against Washington. I know it’s scary rolling out a pitcher against Washington, but Nola allowed one run in 15 innings while striking out 17 batters in those two starts. Normally I’d suggest fading a pitcher who is scheduled to face a team for the third time in a span of five starts, but Nola has owned the Nationals all year. In four outings (28.2 IP) against Washington, he has allowed 18 hits, four runs, and has 30 strikeouts.

Luis Severino @ MIN ($9.4 DK / $10.0 FD)

This is a tournament option only with the way Luis Severino has pitched of late. Severino has allowed at least four runs in six of his last 10 starts. Despite the rocky stretch, Severino still reps a 10.47 K/9 and 3.10 xFIP. There’s a bit of a discount on Severino on DraftKings where he makes for solid play given the fact you have to roll out two pitchers. The Yankees’ ace has 43 strikeouts in his last 30.1 innings, which is tournament-winning stuff.

David Price vs. TOR ($9.7 DK / $9.7 FD)

David Price has a 1.78 ERA over his last eight starts, a span of 50.2 innings. He’s allowed only 10 runs and nine walks while striking out 53. His 0.79 WHIP over the last five starts is the second lowest of any pitcher on the main slate. Price has won all three of his starts against his former team this season, striking out 18 batters in the process.

Others to consider: Carlos Rodon, Jon Gray

Best MLB DFS Hitters for September 12, 2018

Jose Abreu @ KC ($4.6 DK / $3.6 FD)

Jose Abreu returned to the lineup Monday and went 3-for-4 with a run scored. Abreu had hits in 23 of his previous 27 games before suffering an injury that kept him out of the lineup for a couple weeks. He registered at least two hits in 13 of those games and nine home runs. The White Sox’s first baseman has a .302 average against lefties this season and hit .356 against them last year. He’ll see pitches against southpaw Eric Skoglund, who has a 6.04 ERA and has given up six homers in his last 25.1 innings. Abreu is a steal on FanDuel.

Stephen Piscotty @ BAL ($4.9 DK / $3.5 FD)

Stephen Piscotty leads the Athletics with a .331 average, eight home runs, and 24 RBI over the last 30 days. He enters tonight’s game with a 12-game hit streak, including five homers and 17 RBI during that span. He also has a six-game RBI streak on the go and 75 total on the season. This may be Piscotty’s easiest test to date as he’s set to see pitches from Andrew Cashner. The Orioles’ pitcher has a 6.52 ERA, 3.03 K/9 and 3.96 BB/9 in his last seven outings. He’s given up eight home runs and 28 runs over those 38.2 innings. His 85.2 contact percentage in the second half of the season is the highest in baseball.

Adrian Beltre @ LAA ($3.9 DK / $3.3 FD)

Felix Pena has a 39.9 hard hit rate, which ranks inside the Top 25 among pitchers with at least 70 innings. His 80.6 contact percentage during the second half is the 18th highest mark in the Majors. Andrew Cashner is the only pitcher going tonight with a higher contact rate over that span. Adrian Beltre has been one of the better discounted players all season, and he’s been much better of late. He has five home runs in the last two weeks and eight in the second half compared to only four in the first half.

Gleyber Torres @ MIN ($4.2 DK / $3.9 FD)

Gleyber Torres has way too much upside to be the ninth-highest priced 2B on DraftKings. He’s atop the position in terms of price on FanDuel and is a top 20 hitter over the last two weeks (.333 AVG, 3 HR & 12 RBI). The Yankees’ rookie has an impressive 23 home runs and .280 average on the season. He’s reached base safely in 16 of his last 19 games and has five home runs over that span. Jake Odorizzi has allowed 79 home runs in his last three seasons, with a fly ball rate above 44 percent and a hard hit rate above 33 percent in that span.

Others to consider: Gary Sanchez, Wilson Contreras, Matt Olson, Joey Gallo, Rougned Odor, DJ LeMahieu, Nolan Arenado, Kris Bryant, Andrelton Simmons, Trevor Story, Khris Davis, Christian Yelich, Charlie Blackmon, Jonathan Villar
