MLB DFS & Lineups & Picks for September 6, 2018

There are three games on the main MLB DFS slate on DraftKings for Thursday, 9/6/18 and four games on FanDuel. Below is a list of our best MLB DFS picks for pitchers, hitters, and stacks to target in Cash and GPP lineups.

Please note the advice below is relevant for daily fantasy purposes. A player or team might be better or worse from a fantasy perspective than in real life due to matchup, price, and lots of other factors. This is important to consider when constructing a roster. Remember that more than in other sports, variance is a huge part of baseball. Even Mike Trout can go 0-for-4 on a given night, and Max Scherzer can get lit up by a weak team.

Weather can also play a huge role in MLB DFS on a nightly basis, and lineups are constantly shifting. So always, always check the starting lineups and weather reports when playing for an MLB slate. If a game gets rained out, your player gets zero points!

Best MLB DFS Pitchers for September 6, 2018

Stephen Strasburg vs. CHC ($8.6k DraftKings, $9.6k FanDuel)

Stephen Strasburg can hardly be trusted in Cash games due to his injury history, but even with a small dip in his velocity, he has plenty of upside. Current Cubs are 16-for-73 (.219) with 22 Ks (30.1% K-Rate) in their careers against Strasburg. That Nats hurler tossed 99 and 93 pitches while going six innings in each of his last two starts. The Cubs have the fourth-highest K-Rate (23.7%) in the Majors and have a weak .304 wOBA during that span. Strasburg is clearly a bargain on DraftKings because of his modest returns, but he could turn up in a matchup with the Nationals rivals.

Kyle Hendricks @ WAS ($7.7k DraftKings, $9.0k FanDuel)

On the other side, Kyle Hendricks is worth using as a Cash option despite facing off with Strasburg and the Nationals tonight. He’s posting a stellar 5.78 K/BB ratio for a 2.67 FIP and is somehow holding opposing batters to a meager 23.3% hard contact rate over his last nine outings. The fifth-year RHP has shown process against the platoon and has a higher K/9 ratio (8.72) with a lower line drive rate (19.5%) when facing LHBs this year. The Nats have produced a few rallies thanks in part to a 10.3% BB Rate over the last 14 days, but Hendricks has only walked 6% of batters throughout his career and has shown enhanced control since the ASB.

Anibal Sanchez @ ARI ($7.5k DraftKings, $7.9k FanDuel)

While his adversary Zack Greinke has more appeal in GPP formats, Anibal Sanchez is arguably a safer option as a value play on this short slate. Greinke is coughing up a 26% line drive rate when facing LHBs at home and a 45.5% hard contact rate overall at Chase Field. Perhaps his plus splits at home are a bit unfounded. Then, Sanchez continues to limit the opposition with a solid 84.4% Z-Contact Rate and 17.7% line drive rate on the season. He’s posting a 3.62 FIP with a 9.56 K/9 ratio and measly 27.2% hard contact rate when facing lefties. Current D’Backs are 16-for-77 (.208) with 17 Ks in a limited sample against Sanchez. Arizona ranks 29th in collective wOBA (.261) over the last 14 days.

Note: Reds RHP Luis Castillo ($8.2K) is a great value option as a SP on FanDuel.

Best MLB DFS Hitters for September 6, 2018

Ronald Acuña Jr. @ ARI ($5.0k DraftKings, $4.4k FanDuel)

You could pull off an aggressive fade of Greinke tonight by stacking a few of the Braves’ high-priced bats against him. Ronald Acuña Jr. continues to lead Atlanta’s offense with a .443 wOBA since Aug. 1. He’s been very dangerous from the left side of the plate. The rookie owns a 22.7% HR/FB ratio and a 0.92 GB/FB ratio when facing RHPs. We mentioned how Greinke is giving up a lot of hard contact at home, and Acuña boasts a 48.9% hard contact rate when facing righties, having just homered off Boston RHP Hector Velazquez yesterday.

Edwin Encarnacion @ TOR ($4.7k DraftKings, $3.9k FanDuel)

The “former team” theory isn’t reason alone to use Edwin Encarnacion tonight, but the fact that he’s facing the most vulnerable SP on this slate sure bolsters his prospects. Blue Jays RHP Marco Estrada is posting a career-worst 5.40 SIERA with a modest 2.09 K/BB ratio and a 5.43 FIP. He’s allowing righties to hit .295 with a notable 2.25 HR/9 ratio, and Encarnacion is 2-for-4 with a double, HR and 2 walks over a limited sample against Estrada. His production has been sporadic, but Encarnacion should have ample opportunities to produce in the middle of Cleveland’s deadly lineup.

Melky Cabrera @ TOR ($4.0k DraftKings, $3.7k FanDuel)

Feel free to stack several Cleveland hitters against Estrada tonight and use Melky Cabrera in any format whereas Encarnacion may be more of a GPP play. Cabrera is 9-for-28 with a pair of doubles over the past week and has been reliable with a .282/.332/.441 slash line since joining the Tribe. The switch hitter has flashed less power against righties but does have a 10.6% BB rate as a LHB and a 40.4% hard contact rate overall this season. He’s pricey on FanDuel for good reason since his ability to hit for contact gives him a solid floor.

Other hitters to consider: Jose Ramirez, Eugenio Suarez (FD), Michael Brantley, Mark Reynolds, Jason Kipnis, Randal Grichuk
