MLB DFS DraftKings.com & FanDuel.com Lineups & Picks for May 19, 2018

There are 11 games on the main MLB DFS slate for Saturday, 5/19/18. Below is a list of our top MLB DFS picks for pitchers, hitters, and stacks to target in Cash and GPP lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel. The info below can also be used for creating your daily fantasy baseball strategy at FantasyDraft.

Please note the advice below is relevant for daily fantasy purposes. A player or team might be better or worse from a fantasy perspective than in real life due to matchup, price, and lots of other factors. This is important to consider when constructing a roster. Remember that more than in other sports, variance is a huge part of baseball. Even Mike Trout can go 0-for-4 on a given night, and Max Scherzer can get lit up by an unsuspecting team.

Weather can also play a huge role in MLB DFS on a nightly basis, and lineups are constantly shifting. So always, always check the starting lineups and weather reports when playing an MLB slate.

Best MLB DFS Pitchers for May 19, 2018

Patrick Corbin @ NYM ($11.3 DK / $10.0 FD)

The New York Mets enter tonight with the the lowest batting average (.199), lowest wOBA (.250), and highest strikeout rate (27.3%) against left-handed pitching. That’s good news for Patrick Corbin who supports the fifth-highest K/9 (11.84) and fourth-highest strikeout percentage (34.3%). Corbin has at least seven strikeouts in eight of his nine starts, and he gets a watered down Mets lineup that’ll be without Yoenis Cespedes and Todd Frazier.

Sean Newcomb vs. MIA ($11.5 DK / $9.2 FD)

Sean Newcomb hasn’t allowed a run over his last three starts (19.0 IP), and he’s only given up a total of five hits to go along with 20 strikeouts. The lefty is coming off a scoreless outing against Miami where he allowed only one hit and struck out six over six innings. The Marlins enter with a .114 ISO against LHP which ranks 29th and their 150 runs overall ranks last.

Jose Quintana @ CIN ($7.1 DK / $7.5 FD)

Jose Quintana has had eight starts this season. In four of those, he allowed only one total run. But in the other four, Quintana allowed 23 runs, leading to a 5.23 ERA. The walks (21) and home runs (7) have killed the Cubs’ pitcher so far this season, but his upside is too high to pass up given the price and matchup against the NL-worst Reds.

Fernando Romero vs. MIL ($8.7 DK / $6.4 FD)

Fernando Romero finally allowed his first big-league run in his last outing and will carry a 0.54 ERA into his fourth start. Romero has 20 strikeouts over 16.2 innings. He’s only allowed 11 hits. Like most young pitchers, the walks are an issue, but there’s no question he has swing-and-miss stuff (12.9 SwStr%). The Brewers have the sixth-highest strikeout rate over the last two weeks. It’s a very intriguing pitching matchup, as his counterpart Freddy Peralta punched out 13 batters in his MLB debut Sunday. Both are affordable, and both are worthy of GPP entries, but I lean Romero given the sample size.

Others to consider: James Paxton, Andrew Heaney

Best MLB DFS Hitters for May 19, 2018

Giancarlo Stanton @ KC ($5.2 DK / $5.0 FD)

Giancarlo Stanton has a league-high .651 wOBA against left-handers this season, and his .459 average ranks second. Seven of his 10 home runs in 2018 have come off lefties, which shouldn’t be a surprise considering he had 15 bombs against southpaws last season and a .480 wOBA. Danny Duffy’s 44.8% fly ball rate is a big reason he’s allowed 12 home runs to date and nine over his last five starts. The 56 hits Duffy’s allowed on the season are the 12th most.

Shin-soo Choo @ CWS ($3.5 DK / $3.2 FD)

The Texas Rangers are well represented on RotoQL when it comes to value plays. Shin-soo Choo has a high projected point total, and he checks in at a very reasonable price on both sites. The Rangers’ No. 2 hitter is in good form as well with hits in six of his last seven games, and he’s fresh off a home run and four RBI game Friday. Lucas Giolito has a higher walk rate than strikeout rate, which is never a good thing. He’s allowed 32 walks and 32 runs in 41.2 innings. The Chicago pitcher has issued seven walks in a start twice this season, including his most recent one. Take a look at Choo, Joey Gallo, and Nomar Mazara, among other Texas bats.

Kyle Seager vs. DET ($4.0 DK /  $3.5 FD)

Mike Fiers has allowed 24-plus home runs in three straight seasons and over 30 in a season twice (including 32 in 2017). Fiers has a 45 percent fly ball rate, resulting in eight home runs so far. Kyle Seager is starting to swing a much better bat as he’s registered eight extra base hits (four home runs) over his last eight games. The Seattle third baseman is underpriced on FanDuel.

Anthony Rizzo @ CIN ($5.1 DK / $4.1 FD)

Anthony Rizzo is popping up in just about every one of my RotoQL-optimized lineups. He has the the second-highest projected total among first basemen and seventh highest overall. Rizzo is expensive, and he’s struggled this season, so it may mean lower ownership numbers in tournaments. It’s the second of a double-header, so just make sure you see the Cubs’ lineup before the start of the game. Sal Romano is scheduled to start for the Reds, and he’s allowed 16 home runs over his first 131.2 big league innings, including seven this season. The entire Chicago lineup is in play.

Others to consider: Gary Sanchez, Mike Zunino, Joey Gallo, Paul Goldschmidt, C.J. Cron, Gleyber Torres, Rougned Odor, Justin Turner, Nicholas Castellanos, Didi Gregorius, Tim Anderson, Andrelton Simmons, Nelson Cruz, Nick Markakis, Delino Deshields
