MLB DFS DraftKings.com & FanDuel.com Lineups & Picks for May 14, 2018

There are eight games on the main MLB DFS slate for Monday, 5/14/18. Below is a list of our top MLB DFS picks for pitchers, hitters, and stacks to target in Cash and GPP lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel. The info below can also be used for creating your daily fantasy baseball strategy at FantasyDraft.

Please note the advice below is relevant for daily fantasy purposes. A player or team might be better or worse from a fantasy perspective than in real life due to matchup, price, and lots of other factors. This is important to consider when constructing a roster. Remember that more than in other sports, variance is a huge part of baseball. Even Mike Trout can go 0-for-4 on a given night, and Max Scherzer can get lit up by an unsuspecting team.

Weather can also play a huge role in MLB DFS on a nightly basis, and lineups are constantly shifting. So always, always check the starting lineups and weather reports when playing an MLB slate.

Best MLB DFS Pitchers for May 14, 2018

Carlos Carrasco @ DET ($12.2 DK / $9.8 FD)

Cleveland is the heavy favorite tonight despite playing on the road in Detroit. In fact, they are the biggest favorites of the evening largely due to the pitching matchup between Carlos Carrasco and Mike Fiers (more on him below). Carrasco picked up his league-leading second complete game of the season in his last outing where he struck out 14 batters. He only allowed one run on three hits in his first complete game of the season, which happened to come against the Tigers. Carassco should have no problem going up and down this lineups with Miguel Cabrera, Nicholas Castellanos, and Jeimer Candelario all sidelined. Cleveland has also won 11 straight against Detroit.

Tyler Anderson @ SD ($7.5 DK / $6.9 FD)

Tyler Anderson has already faced the Padres twice this season. He racked up 12 K and only allowed two runs on 11 hits over 12 innings. This game is away from Coors Field, and the Padres have the second-highest K-Rate in baseball. They also rank 24th in average against lefties.

Junior Guerra @ ARI ($6.0 DK / $8.0 FD)

I understand wanting to pay up for pitchers tonight with so few good arms scheduled to take the mound, especially on FanDuel. There’s a buzz in the fantasy community surrounding Patrick Corbin and his 11.82 K/9, but he’s struggled with his walks, hard contact, and home runs of late. I encourage you to try a few DraftKings tournament lineups where you fade Corbin and go the other way with Junior Guerra. The Brewers’ righty has allowed one or zero runs in four of his six starts. He fanned nine in his last outing against Cleveland, a team that doesn’t strike out often. Guerra has his contact rate below 80 percent and his K/9 up to 9.56. The Diamondbacks’ 27.1 strikeout percentage over the last two weeks is the second highest. Plus, their 40 runs over that span ranks 26th. On the season, their .225 average ranks dead last and they have the third highest strikeout rate. It doesn’t get much more contrarian than this.

Others to consider: Rick Porcello, Patrick Corbin, Chris Stratton

Best MLB DFS Hitters for May 14, 2018

Brian Dozier vs. SEA ($4.5 DK / $3.7 FD)

Brian Dozier enters tonight on a five-game hit streak, including two home runs, a double, and a four-hit game. The Twins’ second baseman has seven home runs on the season and is hitting .304 against LHPs. Last season Dozier had 11 home runs (T6) and a .437 wOBA (7th best) against southpaws. Wade LeBlanc has allowed three home runs in 22.2 innings this season and 27 over his last 152.2 innings. The Mariners’ lefty has an 85.3 contact rate and 44.3 fly ball rate so far in 2018. Also, Dozier has a 43.3 fly ball rate for his career. The Twins opened up with the third highest team total (five runs), behind Boston and Cleveland.

Kyle Seager @ MIN ($4.0 DK / $3.4 FD)

Kyle Seager is finally starting to turn things around. He’s racked up hits in six of his last seven games including three home runs (six hits) and eight RBI in his last four contests. He moved up to fifth in the order on Sunday and may move up even higher with the injury to Robinson Cano. Seager has the second highest fly ball rate (45.5%) on the Mariners behind Mike Zunino and Mitch Haniger. You have to love all three against Jake Odorizzi, who has allowed nine home runs and has the third highest fly ball rate (53.9%) among qualified arms. The Mariners and Twins have the highest over/under total (9.5) of the night.

Michael Brantley @ DET ($4.2 DK / $3.7 FD)

Michael Brantley is coming off a great weekend series against the Royals where he went 6-for-14 with two home runs, nine RBI, and six runs. He’s moved from fourth to second in the lineup and is one of the cheaper Cleveland bats tonight. It should be a good stack against Mike Fiers. The Tigers’ pitcher allowed 32 bombs over 153.1 innings last season. He’s already allowed seven over 32.1 innings this season. He has an 80 percent contact right, 43 percent fly ball rate, and a 36 percent hard-hit rate, which are all warning signs for a pitcher. Brantley is the seventh best value bat at OF according to RotoQL.

Jorge Soler vs. TB ($4.1 DK / $3.8 FD)

Jorge Soler has a .390 average (7th best) and .508 wOBA (8th best) against lefties this season, including nine extra base hits (three home runs). Soler has a ridiculous 53.6 hard hit rate (9th best) against southpaws, and Ryan Yarbrough hasn’t fooled anybody with his 84.5 contact percentage. He’s also allowed three home runs over his last 16.2 innings thanks to a 48.2 fly ball rate.

Others to consider: Mike Zunino, Yan Gomes, C.J. Cron, Yonder Alonso, Whit Merrifield, DJ LeMahieu (keeps popping up in my RotoQL-optimized lineups), Jose Ramirez, Mike Moustakas, Alex Bregman, Trevor Story, Brandon Crawford, Mitch Haniger, Andrew McCutchen
