At the end of game day, every point counts. The college football daily fantasy value picks below may not be the best players; in some cases they may not even be the second best player, but they might just give you an edge on Saturday and for a good price point too! These are the players to throw in when you only have a few thousand fantasy dollars left and are looking to fill a position with a player that still has upside. All prices are shown using FanDuel prices and whether it is an early or late matchup is indicated. Below are 6 of this week’s players that have been playing well, have a desirable match-up this week and that I believe are worth consideration for those final slots on your team.
Early Games:
Mark Weisman RB – Iowa – $6,300 Early
Weisman has been incredibly consistent the last 3 weeks. He has averaged 24 carries and 2 touchdowns per game over that span. His 8 rushing touchdowns this season are 4th in the Big Ten behind only Melvin Gordon, Tevin Coleman, and Ameer Abdullah…so pretty good company. This week Weisman matches up against a Maryland rushing defense giving up 212 rushing yards per game. Weisman should have another 20+ carry day and add a couple touchdowns.
Chris Moore WR – Cincinnati – $5,500 and Mekale McKay WR– Cincinnati – $5,000 Early
Either of these wide outs, depending on your budget, should have a solid day this weekend against a poor SMU defense. The Bearcats are the number 11 passing offense in the country playing against SMU who is the 5th worst passing defense in the country. This should work out well for Moore and McKay. Both receivers are tied for the team lead with 5 touchdowns on the year and tied with receptions at 17. Moore has the edge in receiving yards; leading the team with 414 on the season. Passing yards account for over 3/4ths of the Bearcats offense this season and 15 of their 18 touchdowns have been passing. Look for these players to capitalize on this match up.
A.J. Derby TE – Arkansas – $3,700 Early
Derby has had two impressive back to back weeks for the Razorbacks. He has led the team in receiving yards in both games and added a touchdown in each. Arkansas likes to run more than they throw but when they do air it out Derby has caught the second most balls and has the most receiving touchdowns on the team. Derby’s 6-5 255 lbs frame will be open for another redzone touchdown this weekend.
Late Games:
Jay Jones RB – South Alabama – $5,500 Late
Jones leads the Jaguars of South Alabama with 322 rushing yards and 67 carries on the year. He also leads the team with 3 rushing touchdowns. This week South Alabama is playing the 1-5 Georgia State Panthers. The Panthers are 114th in the country in rushing defense and they are almost dead last giving up almost 42 points per game. I expect Jones to get close to 20 carries this week with at least one touchdown. South Alabama should jump out to an early lead and then feed the ball to Jones from there.
DeAndre Smelter WR – Georgia Tech – $5,400 Late
I tend to be picking often against a North Carolina team that is 4th to last in pass defense this season, but who also tends to hang around in games enough to ensure that their opponent keeps throwing the ball. This week DeAndre Smelter should be the target to benefit from this. Last week he was injured running out of the tunnel with the team so he was not 100 percent. However, he has been cleared and will play this weekend. He leads the team in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns this season. DeAndre should have a big day against the Tar Heels.
E.J. Bibbs TE – Iowa State – $4,500 Late
The Cyclones will have their hands full with a Texas defense that has been having an impressive year. However, playing E.J. Bibbs should still be a solid play in this match up. I expect Iowa State to be throwing a lot throughout this game especially if they get behind. Bibbs leads the Cyclones in receptions and touchdowns on the year and that will hold during this match up.
