NASCAR DFS Cheat Sheet: DraftKings Picks for Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond

Each week, we’ll have an early week cheat sheet for the NASCAR DFS contests at DraftKings. This week, we look at the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond.

TOP 5 FAVORITES TO WIN

1. Kyle Busch – There are two major stats in daily fantasy NASCAR. The first statistic is current form. How is the driver running this year? Kyle Busch has the fastest car in NASCAR. Kevin Harvick might disagree, but Kevin Harvick cannot disagree with Busch’s results. The other stat is track history. Busch hasn’t won at Richmond since 2011, but he runs up front every year. Over the last six Richmond races, Kyle has the best average running position.

2. Kevin Harvick – Write off last week. Harvick started in the back with a backup car that they could not get dialed in. He’s not supposed to score the most fantasy points every single week. That being said, Harvick still scored 80 points. That’s pretty good for an off week. Last year was a lost year because of the switch to Ford. If you analyze Harvick’s final season with Chevy, then you’ll see a NASCAR DFS boss. Harvick scored 89 fantasy NASCAR points in the 2016 spring race.

3. Kyle Larson – Less than a handful of drivers have led a significant amount of laps this season. Larson is a part of that elite group. Busch and Harvick have faster cars, but Larson gets the most out of his equipment. He pushes his car to the edge. In the last Richmond night race, Larson led the third most laps and won the race. Like most tracks, Larson has improved at Richmond every season since his rookie year.

4. Martin Truex, Jr. – In the last two Richmond night races, Truex has scored the most fantasy points. They’re racing under the lights this Saturday. Technically, Richmond is a short track because it’s less than a mile in distance. Technically, those types of classifications are stupid. This track races like an intermediate track. Drivers are not heavy on the break, they roll into the turns. Look no further than Truex for the definitive word. Truex has been the best intermediate track driver in NASCAR over the last two years, and he’s been the best at Richmond.

5. Brad Keselowski – The Penske Fords struggled to find speed last year, but Richmond was the exception. This is Keselowski’s best track. He has a top 10 average running position in each of the last eight Richmond race. In the last three Richmond races, Keselowski has finished with a top 5 Fantasy NASCAR score. This is the week to put Keselowski back into your player pool. He was a contender last week until a late race mechanical failure.

LONG SHOTS TO SCORE BIG

1. Ryan Newman – Last year, Newman earned a top 10 in both Richmond races. Like most Neman races, they were late race strategy calls, but Newman ran close enough to the front to make those calls.

2. Kasey Kahne – After a handful of races with his new team, Kahne is getting comfortable. He’s driven around 20th to 25th place to start the season, but he’s becoming a 15th to 20th place driver.

3. Erik Jones – The #20 car has top 10 speed every week. This car also has history at Richmond. Matt Kenseth scored over 40 hog points (combined fast lap and laps led points) in the #20 car in both Richmond races last season.

RECENT SUCCESS

Kyle Busch – A driver doesn’t get any hotter. Back-to-back wins is a rare feat in NASCAR. Three is unheard of, but Busch did it in 2015.

Kevin Harvick – He finds a way to score NASCAR DFS points every week. Last week he did his damage by scoring place differential points. Fast cars score points. There’s not much else to it.

Kyle Larson – Texas was a DNF for Larson, but he had a fast car. He showed that fast car off at Bristol by scoring 150 fantasy NASCAR points.

TRACK HISTORY

Kyle Larson (Fall 2017)
Joey Logano (Spring 2017)
Denny Hamlin (Fall 2016)
Carl Edwards (Spring 2016)
Matt Kenseth (Fall 2015)

PICK TO WIN

Kyle Busch – Harvick won three consecutive races earlier this season. Now, Busch is about to do it, too. Busch is a streaky driver, and he’s been the DFS Report pick to win two weeks in a row. Let’s make it three.
