Injuries play a huge role in NBA DFS on a nightly basis, and value plays at the various daily fantasy sites can arise at a moment’s notice. Always, always check the starting lineups and injury news right before tipoff.

Best NBA DFS Picks for February 12, 2018

Elfrid Payton @ GSW ($7.1k DraftKings, $7.5k FanDuel)
The Suns’ fast-paced style makes Elfrid Payton a great lineup addition. He could follow up a solid debut with more good production against the hyper-speed Warriors. While Phoenix (+15.5) stands little chance to win this game, they should be able to score against a Golden State squad that’s given up 100-plus points in 10 consecutive games. Payton’s matchup is decent. The Dubs are coughing up the 10th-most PPG (24.17) to opposing PGs over the last month. Plus, the potential absences of Devin Booker (hip) and Tyler Ulis (back) would secure his role with a new team. Also note that with Payton out of Orlando, new Magic PGs D.J. Augustin ($5.3k, $6.1k) and Shelvin Mack ($4.8k, $5.5k) are great values to consider in their plus matchup at Chicago.

Zach LaVine vs. ORL ($6.9k DraftKings, $8.2k FanDuel)
Clearly the top offensive option for a rebuilding Bulls team, Zach LaVine should resume his high-usage role after sitting out the second half of a B2B set this past Saturday. Prior to that, he dropped 35 points in a very tough matchup against Jimmy Butler. He saw 33 minutes of run in that Minnesota game, indicating his minutes restriction may soon fade away. Orlando is obviously a poor defensive team. They give up the fourth-most PPG (109.9) overall and the third-most FPPG (44.12) to opposing SGs over the last month.  LaVine remains affordable on DK.

Rajon Rondo @ DET ($5.7k DraftKings, $5.5k FanDuel)
For better or worse, the Pelicans appear ready to give Rajon Rondo the keys to their offense as they look to move on without DeMarcus Cousins (Achilles). We saw the best form of Rondo when he dropped a triple-double with 25 points in a win over the Nets Saturday. That type of upside makes him worth a look in GPP formats tonight at the very least. Detroit is giving up the fifth-most FPPG (49.96) and third-most PPG (24.83) to opposing PGs over the last month with the diminutive Ish Smith starting. Rondo should be able to see over the defense and potentially log double-digit assists once again.

Others to Consider: Donovan Mitchell, Spencer Dinwiddie, Evan Fournier, Justin Holiday, Austin Rivers, Shelvin Mack

Kevin Durant vs. PHO ($9.8k DraftKings, $10.9k FanDuel)
We recommended a dud in Durant for Saturday’s matchup against the Spurs. If you’re stubborn enough to stick with him tonight, he could pay big dividends. Draymond Green (finger) is doubtful as Golden State hosts the worst-rated defense in the NBA. Durant posts a lofty 33.6 percent usage rate when Green is off the floor this season. More than that, his peripheral stats increase dramatically. He averages 1.50 FPs per minute, so in a matchup between the second- and third-fastest paced teams in the NBA, he could fill the stat sheet. He’s only worth GPP consideration because the Warriors are heavily favored at home, but the Suns will have no answers for KD if this turns into a shootout.

Mario Hezonja @ CHI ($5.6k DraftKings, $5.7k FanDuel)
With Aaron Gordon (hip) and Nikola Vucevic (hand) ruled out tonight, Mario Hezonja remains a quality mid-tier option despite his rising price tag. He’s coming off a 23-point performance in which he failed to fill the stat sheet. But he could be more productive in this prime game to target between weak defensive teams. Chicago is giving up the second-most FPPG (46.43) to opposing SFs over the last month, and Orlando is running much more of a free-form offense with Elfrid Payton gone.

DeMarre Carroll vs. LAC ($5.4k DraftKings, $5.5k FanDuel)
Aside from a surprising dud against the Lakers last week, DeMarre Carroll has been a rock for the Nets and a staple for Cash lineups. He’s averaging 15.5 PPG and 6.5 RPG over four appearances since then and has seen plenty of usage while shooting 15-of-42 from the field. If he can be more efficient on his jump shots, Carroll could meet or exceed value with relative ease against the Clippers. L.A. gives up the seventh-most FPPG (41.79) to opposing SFs this season. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (groin) remains out, and Caris LeVert (knee) will sit tonight. Both instances seriously upgrade Carroll’s projections.

Others to Consider: Blake Griffin, Lauri Markkanen, Danilo Gallinari, Kyle Anderson, Denzel Valentine, Jonathon Simmons, Dragan Bender

Joel Embiid vs. NYK ($10.2k DraftKings, $10.7k FanDuel)
Anthony Davis and Andre Drummond will battle in Detroit tonight and could cancel out each other’s upside. Meanwhile, Joel Embiid is cheaper than both those centers and draws a cakewalk of a matchup. With Kristaps Porzingis (knee) done for the year, Enes Kanter is logging the lion’s share of minutes for New York down low; he’s a notably poor defender. Embiid had his way with the Knicks en route to 25 points, 16 rebounds, and three blocks in a meeting earlier this season. He’s been absolutely dominant lately with averages of 25 PPG, 13.3 RPG, and 2.0 BPG while logging a healthy 31.5 MPG over his last six appearances.

Pau Gasol @ UTA ($4.8k DraftKings, $5.4k FanDuel)
While he hasn’t been flashing much upside lately, Pau Gasol is in line for an increased workload with LaMarcus Aldridge (knee) ruled out tonight. Of course, Kawhi Leonard (quad) remains out, PG Dejounte Murray (ankle) is questionable, and Gasol sees a 2.7 percent rise in usage rate (to 24.1 percent) while averaging 1.34 FPs per minute when those players are off the floor this year. Davis Bertans ($4.3k, $3.9k) should also benefit with Aldridge out. He’s a fine punt play to consider, while Gasol is a worthy value even in a tough matchup against Rudy Gobert and the Jazz.

Others to Consider: Anthony Davis, Enes Kanter, DeAndre Jordan, Rudy Gobert, Bobby Portis
