Best NBA DFS Picks for February 11, 2018
JJ Barea, Wesley Matthews, and Dirk Nowitzki are all out tonight for the Mavericks. This is going to give Yogi Ferrell (just $3.9k on DK) all the minutes he can handle. He’ll be mega-chalk, but I think at his cheap price, it’ll be good chalk. Dennis Smith Jr will also see more minutes and gets a massive usage bump with these three Mavs off the court. There’s just nobody else to carry the load for Dallas.
After the Grizzlies not being able to find a trade partner, Tyreke Evans is expected to return to the lineup tonight at OKC. Wayne Selden is out and Andrew Harrison has an illness, so he should see significant run in his first game in two weeks. He’s about $1k cheaper than when we last saw him as well.
Russell Westbrook is questionable and should he miss, Raymond Felton is a good salary saver that will likely see 27-32 minutes. Another injury play (should Rubio sit) worth monitoring is Donovan Mitchell. If Rubio is out, Mitchell will be expected to pick up the slack and would present a floor in the low 30 fantasy points, with a ceiling in the mid 40s. Alec Burks is also in play should Rubio sit.
Of note, with George Hill shipped out of town, De’Aaron Fox is going to get 32+ minutes on a nightly basis. He’s already averaging 0.88 fantasy points per minute over the last month and one would expect that to tick up in the coming weeks.
James Harden, Damian Lillard, and Jimmy Butler are the clearest path to raw fantasy points, and you should be able to fit at least one of these guys with the current value, and maybe two should even more value open up.
If Westbrook is ruled out, then Paul George becomes a guy that might be lock button worthy. He’s scored fewer than 26 real life points in a game only once in his last eight games, and went for 29/9/3/2/1 with Westy out on Thursday despite the Thunder only scoring 81 points.
We talked about how thin the Mavs are going to be, and that means Harrison Barnes and Dwight Powell get a boost. Given that both guys project to about the same amount of fantasy points tonight, I give Powell the nod. He’s cheaper, and is averaging 32 fantasy points over his last four games.
Past that, I’ll be looking to work in Jimmy Butler at Forward on DraftKings, and will likely have some shares of Joe Ingles in tournaments.
Dwight Powell can be used at Center on DK, so that’s an option for roster construction.
Raw points projection at Center goes to Karl-Anthony Towns, and typically we’d be concerned with the Wolves being a 13 point favorite that KAT would see reduced minutes. But, this is Thibs team and looking back at other Wolves blowout wins over the last month and KAT saw at least 30 minutes in all of them. You can roll him out with confidence.
The only other Center that I’ll be deploying tonight is Clint Capela and it’s strictly a GPP strategy play. Of the guys with legitimate 45+ point upside tonight, I expect Capela to carry the lowest ownership of the bunch due to the blowout factor (the Rockets are 15.5 point favorites). Roster Capela knowing he might only get 25 minutes should this game get out of hand early.
