Best NBA DFS Picks for February 7, 2018

Jimmy Butler vs. CLE ($9.5k DraftKings, $9.6k FanDuel)
Right now, questions surround the Cavs’ effort and heart, two things Jimmy Butler has never been accused of lacking. With his innate drive to compete increased by facing off with LeBron James, Butler makes for a great option in any format against what is quickly becoming the league’s worst defense. The Cavs are giving up 114.9 PPG while going 6-9 over their last 15 contests. They’re also somehow allowing the most FPPG (48.09) and PPG (25.27) to opposing SFs over the last month despite that being LeBron’s primary position. Butler went for 21 points, eight rebounds, nine assists, and three steals over just 27 minutes in a blowout win over the Cavs earlier this year. He could produce a bigger line if this meeting remains close.

Ricky Rubio @ MEM ($6.7k DraftKings, $7.6k FanDuel)
Still under priced on DK given his recent production, Ricky Rubio is averaging 21 PPG and 9.2 APG while leading Utah to ridiculous offensive output. Utah’s averaging 127.7 PPG while winning four straight. They could easily make it five tonight in a matchup against the youth-laden Grizzlies. No longer a tough matchup for opposing PGs, Memphis is giving up the third-most SPG (2.42) to the position over the last month and the sixth-most PPG (22.62) to PGs this season. Donovan Mitchell played through an illness on Monday but managed just two points over 19 minutes. Rubio could benefit from increased usage if the rookie remains under the weather.

Spencer Dinwiddie @ DET ($6.2k DraftKings, $6.9k FanDuel)
D’Angelo Russell (knee) is still working his way back. He hasn’t been able to log 25 minutes since returning from injury, so Spencer Dinwiddie is the Nets guard to target in a good matchup tonight. He’ll have some added motivation to face his former team in the Pistons. They’re allowing the sixth-most FPPG (49.65) and fifth-most PPG (24.46) to opposing PGs over the last month. While he isn’t a great GPP play due to his steadfast playing style, Dinwiddie is likely to meet value as long as the Nets keep this contest close on the road.

Others to Consider: James Harden, Jrue Holiday, Goran Dragic, Dejounte Murray, Andrew Harrison, Rajon Rondo, Rodney Hood, Reggie Bullock, Cory Joseph

Blake Griffin vs. BKN ($9.0k DraftKings, $9.2k FanDuel)
Should Andre Drummond (ankle) miss tonight’s game, Blake Griffin will definitely be a very popular play. Of course, he’s a great option either way against a defenseless Nets team. Brooklyn coughs up the sixth-most FPPG (48.41) and most RPG (12.85) to opposing PFs this season. Griffin’s been stellar since joining the Pistons with averages of 20.3 PPG, 9.3 RPG, and 6.0 APG. Those numbers are sure to rise if Drummond isn’t available in addition to PG Reggie Jackson (ankle), leaving Griffin to function as a capable point forward.

T.J. Warren vs. SA ($6.3k DraftKings, $6.8k FanDuel)
With Kawhi Leonard out, the Spurs have been far from a tough matchup for opposing SFs, as they’re allowing the second-most RPG (9.0) to the position over the last month. San Antonio is far less capable defensively when on the road, and T.J. Warren is likely to serve as the top option for Phoenix with Devin Booker (hip) doubtful to suit up. Warren has produced 41 points on solid 14-of-34 FG shooting (.412) over two meetings against the Spurs this season. He makes for a good correlation play if you want to use LaMarcus Aldridge or other key Spurs.

Lance Stephenson @ NO ($5.8k DraftKings, $5.6k FanDuel)
We recommended Lance Stephenson as a risky option in this column two nights ago, but he quickly became a viable play in any format with Victor Oladipo (illness) and Darren Collison (knee) out. Sure enough, “Born Ready” played 38 minutes, which allowed him to exceed value in a second straight game even though he didn’t shoot well and turned it over six times. The Pacers will likely stick with Stephenson as a point forward in a great matchup tonight against the struggling Pelicans. He makes for a solid value along with backup PG Cory Joseph ($4.6k, $4.9k) with Collison out for a few weeks.

Others to Consider: LeBron James, Domantas Sabonis, DeMarre Carroll, Kyle Anderson, James Johnson, Dillon Brooks, Anthony Tolliver

Anthony Davis vs. IND ($11.6k DraftKings, $11.9k FanDuel)
Now designated as a center on FanDuel due to the season-ending injury to DeMarcus Cousins, Anthony Davis is quite clearly the top option on the board tonight. He’ll cost you a pretty penny but will almost assuredly dominate an under-sized Pacers front line that could only hope to guard him if Myles Turner (knee) was healthy. Indiana gives up the third-most FPPG (54.95) and second-most PPG (24.19) to opposing centers this season and Davis steamrolled them for 37 points and 14 boards with Cousins active earlier this year.

LaMarcus Aldridge @ PHO ($8.4k DraftKings, $8.6k FanDuel)
The Spurs are certainly capable of blowing out the lowly Suns, but San Antonio averages just 96.5 PPG and is 12-15 on the road this season. Therefore, there’s a decent chance this game remains close into the fourth quarter. As long as his Spurs are challenged, LaMarcus Aldridge will carry the offensive load with Kawhi Leonard (quad) on the shelf. He’s posting his highest usage rate (28.7 percent) as a member of the Spurs and averaging 22.4 PPG and 8.4 RPG this season. The Suns have been powerless to stop good scorers and allow the fourth-most FPPG (48.74) to opposing PFs this season, so Aldridge makes for a good play in any format.

Others to Consider: Andre Drummond, Hassan Whiteside, Pau Gasol, Jarret Allen, Bam Adebayo
