Best NBA DFS Picks for January 10, 2018
Guards
Chris Paul vs. POR ($9.7k DraftKings, $10.3k FanDuel)
His price tag has come down a bit, and Chris Paul has an excellent floor-ceiling combination right now with James Harden (hamstring) inactive. He led the Rockets’ offense to a win in Chicago on Monday with 24 points and nearly posted a triple-double. He now averages 20.8 PPG, 10.8 APG, and 6.8 RPG over five appearances with Harden departing the game or inactive. The Blazers are a solid defensive team overall. However, they take a hit on that end with Shabazz Napier starting at PG instead of Damian Lillard (calf). Give CP3 a boost if Lillard sits out both ends of this B2B set for Portland.
C.J. McCollum @ HOU ($7.8k DraftKings, $7.5k FanDuel)
And if Lillard is indeed out, C.J. McCollum will remain an excellent option at a reasonable price tag after dropping a cool 27 points while beating OKC last night. He’s rocking a 33.1 percent usage rate and averaging 0.65 points per minute with Lillard off the floor this season. The Rockets’ fast style of play can seriously benefit a guard with his skill set. Across from him, Eric Gordon is a below-average defender, and Houston gives up the ninth-most FPPG (43.95) to opposing SGs over the last month. CJM averages 23.5 PPG over his last four meetings against the Rockets.
Jawun Evans @ GSW ($4.7k DraftKings, $4.7k FanDuel)
The Clippers will be hard-pressed to keep this game close tonight, especially if Kevin Durant (calf) plays. While that makes it tough to pay up for Stephen Curry, Lou Williams, or DeAndre Jordan, the Clippers can still offer some solid values. First and foremost, there’s Jawun Evans, who has a great chance to exceed value at his modest price tag. Milos Teodosic (foot) is unlikely to play tonight, Austin Rivers (heel) has been ruled out for a couple of weeks and Blake Griffin (concussion) is also out. In their absence, Evans produced 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and four steals over a solid 39 minutes of run on Sunday. He should see plenty of court time regardless whether this game is close.
Others to consider: Russell Westbrook, Tyreke Evans, Lou Williams, Bradley Beal, Goran Dragic, Ish Smith, C.J. Williams, Wayne Ellington

Jimmy Butler vs. OKC ($8.7k DraftKings, $9.7k FanDuel)
Fresh off a dominant performance against LeBron James and the Cavs, Jimmy Butler and the Wolves have tons of appeal in tournament formats tonight. Butler needed just 27 minutes to exceed value with 21 points, eight rebounds, nine assists, and three steals on Monday. He’s going to play plenty of minutes tonight in an effort to contain Russell Westbrook and/or Paul George. The Thunder gives up the ninth-most PPG (24.14) to opposing SGs over the last month. That may have something to do with Andre Roberson (knee) missing time.
Josh Richardson vs. IND ($6.3k DraftKings, $5.6k FanDuel)
With Miami on the second half of a B2B, the status of Hassan Whiteside (knee) should be monitored closely, while James Johnson might face disciplinary action for his role in a scuffle with Toronto’s Serge Ibaka on Tuesday. Dion Waiters (ankle) and Tyler Johnson (shoulder) will also likely be out, which would force Josh Richardson to play big minutes once again. He established a very solid floor with double-digit points in 14 consecutive games prior to last night’s slugfest in Toronto. Yet Tonight he faces a Pacers team that ranks 22nd in defensive rating and therefore, Richardson remains a solid Cash play with increased upside depending on the status of Tyler Johnson.
Joe Harris vs. TOR ($4.4k DraftKings, $4.0k FanDuel)
DeMarre Carroll (knee) has been ruled out tonight, and Caris LeVert (groin) is still working his way back to full speed. This means Joe Harris remains a viable punt play at a bottom-of-the-barrel price tag. He produced 12 points, six rebounds, and two assists on Monday in 39 minutes of run. Now, he’ll face a Pistons team that gives up the fifth-most FPPG (42.36) to opposing SFs this season.
Others to consider: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Aaron Gordon, Otto Porter, Ersan Ilyasova, Gerald Green, Trey Lyles, Bobby Portis, Evan Turner

Center
Andre Drummond @ BKN ($8.7k DraftKings, $9.3k FanDuel)
After playing through pain in Philadelphia and missing a couple of contests with a rib injury, Andre Drummond proved he’s back to full strength with 16 points and 14 boards in a close loss to the Pelicans on Monday. Now, he faces a Nets team that plays at the third-fastest pace in the NBA. Brooklyn also coughs up the third-most FPPG (55.19) to opposing centers this season. Therefore, Drummond is clearly worth a look at a slightly diminished price tag.
Marc Gasol vs. NO ($7.6k DraftKings, $8.2k FanDuel)
Anthony Davis (ankle) could miss tonight’s tilt, which would make DeMarcus Cousins ($11.0k, $11.6k) one of the more popular studs on this full slate. But instead of paying up for Boogie, you could be contrarian by playing his adversary in Marc Gasol. The Grizzlies’ big man produced a well-rounded line with 17 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, and five blocks in a close loss to Washington last Friday. Tonight, he’s playing on four full days of rest. Gasol averaged 20 PPG and 6.6 RPG over five appearances on three-plus days of rest last year, and he’s been a tough matchup for Cousins throughout their careers.
Others to consider: DeMarcus Cousins, Nikola Jokic, John Henson, Bam Adebayo
