Best NHL DFS Picks for December 29, 2017

NHL DFS Centers

Ryan Getzlaf vs. CGY (6.2k DraftKings, 7.3k FanDuel)
Ryan Getzlaf’s been fantastic since he returned from injury. He’s tallied seven points in the last five games, and against the Islanders on Dec. 21, the center recorded four assists. He’s collected two goals and 14 assists in 16 games this season. Getzlaf hasn’t been able to score at home, so it would be a perfect time to get that monkey off his back. The Saskatchewan native is on the first-team power play unit and centers the Anaheim Ducks’ first line.

Mathew Barzal @ WIN (5.7k DraftKings, 5.8k FanDuel)
Expensive adds are sometimes needed, and you need to have Mathew Barzal in your lineup tonight. He’s potted five goals in the last three games and has eight points in the last five contests. It should be a high-scoring affair as both teams are in the top five in goals per game. Barzal is on the first power play unit, where he’s tallied four goals and eight assists. The second-year player has dominated in December, firing seven past the netminder and dishing out five assists in 13 games.

Pierre-Luc Dubois @ OTT (5.2k DraftKings, 5.7k FanDuel)
Since Pierre-Luc Dubois’ promotion to the first line, he’s succeeded for the Blue Jackets. He’s recorded four points in the last four games, which includes a power play goal and assist. Dubois will be a cheap addition to your lineup, freeing up space for a better goalie or winger. The 19-year-old has tallied 10 of his 18 points on the road this year.

Others to consider: Eric Staal, Henrik Sedin, Kyle Turris

NHL DFS Wingers

Jake Guentzel @ CAR (5.8k DraftKings, 6.3k FanDuel)
Sidney Crosby can make linemates look really good, and Jake Guentzel gets the opportunity to play with him due to injuries. He’s contributed 13 goals and nine assists this year for the Penguins. Guentzel has been a great special teams player, producing five goals on the power play while dishing out three helpers. Guentzel has collected seven goals on the road this season.

Scott Hartnell @ MIN (3.2k DraftKings, 3.2k FanDuel)
Scott Hartnell will be an extremely cheap add to your lineup, and it never hurts to have a first-line winger on your squad. Hartnell hasn’t recorded a point in the last five games, but it’s not for lack of trying. He has fired 17 shots on net in the last three games, and 12 of them came in one contest. Four of his seven points have come on the road, and the former Flyer has collected two goals and two assists on the PP.

Nikolaj Ehlers vs. NYI (5.9k DraftKings, 5.7k FanDuel)
The Winnipeg Jets have many offensive threats, and Nikolaj Ehlers will have to step up in the absence of Mark Scheifele. The 21-year-old has produced 17 goals and 13 assists this year. He’s been great on the power play, contributing six goals and four helpers. The left winger is on a four-game point streak and has five game-winners this year.

Others to consider: Rick Nash, Jamie Benn, Anders Lee

NHL DFS Defensemen

Mike Green vs. NYR (4.1k DraftKings, 4.5k FanDuel)
Mike Green’s been awesome for the Detroit Red Wings. He’s tallied four goals and 17 assists this season. Green quarterbacks the power play, contributing one goal and 10 assists in that context. Two of his four goals have come at home, and he’s fired 15 shots on net in the last five contests. Green stands as a great add for your team because he’s an offensive defenseman who loves to join the rush.

Will Butcher @ BUF (3.7k DraftKings, 4.2k FanDuel)
The New Jersey Devils are off to a fantastic start, and Will Butcher is a major reason why. He’s recorded two goals and 21 assists this season, and 13 of his helpers came on the power play. Butcher collected 13 assists at home, and he’s dished out three helpers in the last four games. He’s a mobile defenseman who punishes other teams when they make mistakes.

Erik Johnson vs. TOR (4.8k DraftKings, 4.4k FanDuel)
Erik Johnson’s provided some goal-scoring for Colorado this year, potting four. Johnson has fired 12 shots on net and blocked 10 shots in the last five games. He should be able to take advantage of some tired Leaf legs tonight; Toronto will be on the second night of a back-to-back. The American d-man has two assists on the power play this season.

Others to consider: Seth Jones, Jacob Trouba, Matt Dumba

NHL DFS Goalies

Henrik Lundqvist @ DET (8.2k DraftKings, 8.8k FanDuel)
Henrik Lundqvist is as steady as it comes for top goaltenders in the NHL. The King is 17-9-3 this season with a 2.61 goals against average and a .921 save percentage. The Swedish netminder is 3-2 in his last five games and has made at least 33 saves in those games. Lundqvist is 1-0 against the Red Wings this year and only gave up one goal.

Pekka Rinne @ MIN (8K DraftKings, 8.5k FanDuel)
Pekka Rinne’s been awesome for the Nashville Predators this year. The 35-year-old is 19-6-3 with a 2.44 goals against average. Minnesota has lost three of their past five contests. The Wild blasted Rinne the last time these teams played, so it will be a great bounce-back game for the Finnish netminder.

Others to consider: Ben Bishop, John Gibson, Cam Talbot
