A player or team might be better or worse from a fantasy perspective than in real life due to matchup, price, gameflow, and various other factors. This is important to remember when drafting a roster.

Quarterbacks
Top Play
Tom Brady @ BUF ($10.3k)
Still the most consistent producer at his position, Tom Brady could get a key component back this Sunday in Chris Hogan (shoulder). Brady is a ridiculous 26-3 with 66 passing TDs and a 101.5 passer rating in his career against Buffalo. The Bills’ defense is reeling and remains vulnerable despite a solid effort at Kansas City last week. When it comes to paying up for safety, Brady is king. The fact that he missed a couple days to rest an ailing Achilles is very little cause for concern.

Drew Brees vs. CAR ($8.5k)
While Drew Brees has taken a backseat to an elite running game this year, Mark Ingram could struggle this week. He faces a Panthers team that ranks fifth in DVOA run defense and allows the third-fewest RuYPG (83.2) in the NFL. Carolina’s pass defense is solid but has coughed up 17 TDs and allowed opposing QBs to post a 93.5 passer rating. Brees shredded that unit for 220 yards and three TDs in an easy road win earlier this year. Nothing but surprisingly positive gameflow should stop Brees at home. He makes for a solid pairing with receiving back Alvin Kamara ($7.7k) against a Panthers team that gives up the third-most receptions per game (6.31) to opposing RBs this season.
Value Play
Philip Rivers vs. CLE ($8.3k)
Philip Rivers is surprisingly cheap despite shredding the Cowboys on Thanksgiving and the fact that he faces a horrendous Browns team. Cleveland ranks second in DVOA run defense, so most of the Chargers’ production should come through the air. Los Angeles’ defense is playing absolutely lights out, which should allow Rivers and his unit to dominate possession in this home game. He has a solid floor and decent ceiling, as we’ve seen a few QBs meet value in the first half alone against the lowly Browns.
Running Backs
Top Play
Le’Veon Bell @ CIN ($9.7k)
The most complete back in the NFL, Le’Veon Bell leads all RBs in receptions (61) and has nearly 100 more rushing yards (981) than the next closest runner. He torched Cincinnati for 192 YFS on an absurd 38 touches in Week 7 and tends to be the most productive player for the Steelers when they travel. The Bengals have capable cornerbacks who may be able to slow down Antonio Brown, potentially forcing Pittsburgh to feed Bell the rock.

Marshawn Lynch vs. NYG ($4.5k)
Marshawn Lynch is so cheap that he makes for a great option in tournaments this week. The former Seahawk looks to build on an impressive performance (111 YFS, TD) against the staunch Broncos defense last week. He’s been rolling with 191 rushing yards and three TDs over three games since getting suspended in Week 8 and notably received a season-high 29 touches last week. The Giants rank 25th in DVOA against the rush and could be without elite run-stuffing NT Damon Harrison (elbow) as well as starting LB Jonathan Casillas (neck) this week.
Value Play
Kenyan Drake vs. DEN ($4.3k)
With Kenyan Drake, you can hang your hat on volume even in a tough matchup. We just saw Marshawn Lynch compile over 100 scrimmage yards on 29 touches at home against the Broncos. Gameflow could work in Miami’s favor once again as the struggling Denver offense turns back to Trevor Siemian. Drake has been hard-pressed to find gaps behind the Dolphins offensive line but could pile up receptions against a Broncos defense that’s primarily vulnerable against opposing TEs and RBs catching passes.

Wide Receivers
Top Play
Keenan Allen vs. CLE ($6.4k)
There are a number of appealing WR plays in this price range on DraftBoard, but Keenan Allen stands out as a player with a great floor-ceiling combination. As mentioned above, the Browns have struggled in pass defense and have been particularly bad against top WRs, ranking dead last in DVOA against those top targets. With 27 targets over his last two games, Allen is clearly the go-to guy for Philip Rivers. He’s the league’s leading receiver on third down, so look for him to come up clutch once again in this plus matchup.

Demaryius Thomas @ MIA ($5.4k)
Trevor Siemian is back under center for the Broncos, which can only mean good things for their maligned receivers. Siemian looked refreshed in relief action last Sunday, completing 11-of-21 passes for 149 yards and two TDs in a comeback effort at Oakland. Assuming he’s good to go after dealing with flu-like symptoms this week, Siemian will look to build on that effort by targeting Demaryius Thomas in a great matchup against Miami’s weak corners. The Dolphins rank 29th in DVOA pass defense against the opposition’s top target, and Thomas is a very tough cover in the red zone.
Value Play
Martavis Bryant @ CIN ($3.5k)
His public tantrum in terms of playing time seems to have led to a significant price drop for Martavis Bryant across the DFS industry. But the Steelers are a forgiving franchise, clearly willing to give their disgruntled WR a second chance. With JuJu Smith-Schuster (hamstring) sidelined last week, Bryant played on 78.4 percent of offensive snaps and was given a chance to return kicks last Sunday night. The Bengals have sold out to try and stop Antonio Brown in the past. If that’s the case this Monday, Bryant could be open in the red zone.
Tight Ends
Top Play
Jared Cook vs. NYG ($4.3k)
While he’s struggled of late, Jared Cook could become the Raiders’ de facto top receiving option if Amari Cooper (concussion, ankle) can’t suit up. Michael Crabtree is suspended for two games for fighting last week, and the Raiders have a slew of one-trick WRs ready to step in, but none have the same consistency as Cook. A 6’6 TE with good route-running ability, he’s a tough matchup for a Giants team that gives up the fourth-most receiving YPG (64.71) to the position this year. New York has allowed a score to a TE in all but one contest this season.
Upside GPP Play
Rob Gronkowski @ BUF ($6.2k)
This is a rare DFS site in which Rob Gronkowski isn’t far more expensive than the rest of the players at his position. In fact, he’s cheaper than Travis Kelce ($6.9k) and the same price as Zach Ertz. Buffalo’s been alright against opposing TEs but hasn’t faced an oversized target of Gronk’s caliber yet this season. He’s burned the Bills for 11 touchdowns over 11 career meetings.
Value Play
Hunter Henry vs. CLE ($3.3k)
We’re going deep into the value bin this week to find Hunter Henry, who could afford you the flexibility to pay up for studs at other positions. With Antonio Gates slowing down in his final NFL season, Henry logged 76.5 percent of offensive snaps and caught a TD on Thanksgiving. He had to deal with excellent Cowboys safety Byron Jones in that contest but now faces a Browns squad that ranks dead last in passing DVOA against TEs. Cleveland has given up 10 receiving TDs to the position this season. Henry is not a safe play but could pay off big if he hits pay dirt again.
