Key NFL DFS Injuries for Week 13 Lineups
C.J. Beathard, QB, San Francisco, Knee
While C.J. Beathard believes he avoided a serious injury toward the end of Sunday’s loss to Seattle, he’s likely to cede his job to new franchise QB Jimmy Garoppolo if he’s at anything less than 100 percent. As the only other QB active, Garoppolo made his Niners debut in garbage time and completed two passes for 18 yards, so he could very well start in a tough road matchup at Chicago. If Garoppolo’s price tag remains low on both main DFS sites, he’ll definitely be worth a look as a value option.
Marquise Goodwin, WR, San Francisco, Foot
With Pierre Garcon (neck) done for the year, Marquise Goodwin was operating as the 49ers’ de facto top receiver. Yet he went down with a foot injury on Sunday that could force Aldrick Robinson into that role and make rookie Trent Taylor closer to a full-time player. Veteran WR Louis Murphy could become a sneaky play against a Bears defense that’s more vulnerable in the slot, but Jimmy G will generally be low on suitable options in the passing game if he makes his first start for San Francisco next week.
Damien Williams, RB, Miami, Shoulder
This might be the biggest injury news of Week 12, because if Damien Williams is out extended time, Kenyan Drake will become close to an every-down back for Miami. Drake showcased his ability to catch the ball with an eight-yard TD reception in a loss to the Patriots and will likely run a ton of routes next week against a Denver team that shuts down the interior rush. Louisville product Senorise Perry suffered a concussion after replacing Williams, which may force the Dolphins to sign a back off their practice squad as the only means to support Drake.
Amari Cooper, WR, Oakland, Concussion
After taking a hard hit on a slant route, Amari Cooper was placed in the league’s concussion protocol. He faces an uphill battle to be cleared ahead of a Week 13 date with the Giants. Michael Crabtree was ejected early in a win over Denver but would slot in as the top target for Derek Carr if Cooper can’t go next Sunday. However, Crabtree could face a suspension, in which case TE Jared Cook, as well as backup WRs Seth Roberts, Cordarrelle Patterson, and even Johnny Holton, would see action in an aggressive offense.
Doug Martin, RB, Tampa, Concussion
Doug Martin has been benched at times during Tampa’s recent struggles, and the club didn’t hesitate to rule him out with a concussion in a loss at Atlanta. In relief, Peyton Barber scored a pair of short TDs and looks like a prime value ahead of a road game at Green Bay in Week 13. Yet the Packers’ defense is far more vulnerable against receiving backs, so look at Jacquizz Rodgers and Charles Sims as intriguing options in PPR formats should Martin sit next week.
Paxton Lynch, QB, Denver, Ankle
The Broncos’ QB carousel made a full revolution on Sunday, as former third-stringer Paxton Lynch suffered an ankle injury in the fourth quarter of a loss to Oakland and was replaced by Trevor Siemian, who began the year on fire for Denver. Siemian will likely get another shot to revive Denver’s dormant offense in a juicy matchup at Miami next Sunday. Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders become more appealing now that they have a QB with some familiarity back under center. They’ll look to burn Miami’s struggling cornerbacks.
Greg Olsen, TE, Carolina, Foot
Apparently, Greg Olsen came back a little too soon from a foot injury. He was forced to leave a win at the Jets and was quickly declared as out. Carolina won’t rush their TE back with a playoff run in mind, and that offense continues to thrive despite Olsen’s absence. Devin Funchess is the top downfield target while Christian McCaffrey should see tons of targets in the shallow passing game as a complement to a dual-threat QB in Cam Newton.

Desmond Trufant, CB, Atlanta, Concussion
Desmond Trufant was ruled out in Week 12 after suffering an apparent concussion. His potential absence could seriously increase the outlook of suddenly elite WR Adam Thielen this weekend. Atlanta’s other starting CB Robert Alford is not on Trufant’s level, and backup C.J. Goodwin could be quite exploitable for the first-place Vikings offense.
