Best NBA DFS Picks for November 20, 2017
Guards
Patrick Beverley @ NYK ($5.7k DraftKings, $6.7k FanDuel)
Patrick Beverley appears poised to return from a five-game absence tonight. He’s just in time for a fantastic matchup against a Knicks team that gives up the fourth-most FPPG (49.48) and most APG (10.71) to opposing point guards this season. The Clippers need their veteran PG back with Austin Rivers and rookie Sindarius Thornwell struggling, while Lou Williams remains extremely streaky as a combo guard. Beverley is scoring a career-best 12.5 points per game, plus just over two 3-pointers per game at a 39.6 percent clip. A consummate scrapper, Beverley is tough enough to return and play a full slate of minutes right away.
Rodney Hood @ PHI ($5.6k DraftKings, $5.8k FanDuel)
After struggling mightily at the Knicks and Nets, the Jazz found something offensively, erupting for 125 points in a blowout win at Orlando on Saturday. Rodney Hood has played a key role offensively: he dropped 31 points in that contest and is now 23-for-44 (52.2 percent) from downtown over his last five appearances. Matchups with Philly often produce DFS goodness, and Hood is healthier now than he was when he scored 19 points against the Sixers on Nov 7.
Jamal Murray @ SAC ($5.4k DraftKings, $5.6k FanDuel)
The Nuggets’ point guard role is Jamal Murray’s to snatch. He’ll certainly take it if he can follow up his recent 31-point performance with another solid game tonight. The second-year man out of Kentucky has seen a rise in usage rate (24.3 percent) and true shooting percentage (.550) this year. He’s caught fire over his last three appearances with 81 points on 32-of-58 (55 percent) shooting.
Tim Frazier @ MIL ($3.4k DraftKings, $3.1k FanDuel)
If John Wall (knee) sits out another game after resting his ailing joints on Sunday, Tim Frazier would become a must-play at that ridiculously low price. The journeyman point guard scored just six points but added eight rebounds and eight assists in a loss to Toronto on Sunday. Frazier played 35 minutes along with the rest of the starters. He averages 10.9 points, 8.1 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per 36 minutes in his career and draws a decent matchup against a Bucks team that gives up the 10th-most PPG (22.6) to opposing PGs this season.
Others to consider: Kyrie Irving, Bradley Beal, Kemba Walker, Donovan Mitchell, Ish Smith, Marcus Smart

Forwards
Ben Simmons vs. UTA ($9.2k DraftKings, $10.3k FanDuel)
The Jazz defense has fallen apart with reigning Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert (knee) out, and it frankly wasn’t that impressive before his loss. Utah gave up huge lines to James Harden, Damian Lillard, and Ben Simmons, who went for 16 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, and six steals/blocks in a win at Utah two weeks ago. He shot just 7-of-22 from the floor in that contest and might’ve been affected by Gobert’s presence in the paint. But the electric point forward is shooting 66 percent (28-for-42) from the floor with 63 points and 26 assists over his last three appearances. Simmons seems to be finding his shot at the pro level right in time for a plus matchup against an injury-plagued foe.
Derrick Favors @ PHI ($6.4k DraftKings, $6.8k FanDuel)
Another player to target in this meeting between the young Sixers and Jazz, Derrick Favors has stepped up with Gobert out. The hulking big man produced 25 points and 11 boards in just 25 minutes in a blowout win over Orlando. Favors is averaging 15.8 points, 10 boards, and 1.8 blocks over five appearances since Gobert’s injury. He’s also become more involved on offense with nine assists in his last three appearances. Ultimately, Favors draws a plus matchup against a 76ers team that allowed the third-most FPPG (54.16) to opposing power forwards last week.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist vs. MIN ($4.1k DraftKings, $4.9k FanDuel)
Increased playing time hasn’t necessarily led to monstrous production from Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, but it certainly increases his floor. The athletic 6’7 wing is coming off a rough offensive game against the elite Clippers defense yet now faces a Wolves team that ranks 25th in defensive rating and dead last in opponent FG percentage (.485) this season. That bodes well for MKG, who scores most of his points in the paint and should be able to avoid Minnesota’s sole plus defender in Jimmy Butler, since he’ll likely guard Charlotte’s bigger offensive threat in Nic Batum.
Others to consider: LeBron James, Robert Covington, Jaylen Brown, Otto Porter, Marcus Morris, Domantas Sabonis, Luke Babbitt, Jonas Jerebko

Center
Joel Embiid vs. UTA ($9.9k DraftKings, $10.6k FanDuel)
The Sixers’ offense remains both predictable and lucrative in DFS contests, as Ben Simmons, Robert Covington, and Joel Embiid continue to carry one of the most exciting young teams in the NBA. Apparently overcoming his minutes restrictions, “The Process” is averaging 33 points, 13 rebounds, four assists, and three blocks, while logging 34.3 minutes per game, over his last three appearances. Gobert’s absence is clearly a huge factor in this matchup, and Embiid should be ready to work against smaller defenders in Derrick Favors and Ekpe Udoh.
Nikola Jokic @ SAC ($9.1k DraftKings, $9.3k FanDuel)
It doesn’t make much sense to avoid the high-priced options at center tonight since there are so many that shine with upside. Jokic might fly under the radar after a relatively quiet line (13 points, 11 rebounds, six assists) when the Nuggets dropped 146 points on the Pelicans on Friday. Of course, he only played 27 minutes in that contest and stands to see more run on the road tonight against a Kings team that coughs up the most FPPG (62.45) to opposing centers this year. Jokic stunningly went scoreless in a 96-79 win over Sacramento earlier this season but dropped 20 points and 14 boards in his previous meeting with the Kings. He is bound to pile up stats with the Nuggets’ offense rolling like it is now. And he should be well rested as he was ejected last night after playing only 12 minutes!
Others to consider: Andre Drummond, Marc Gasol, Al Horford, Willie Cauley-Stein
