Best NBA DFS Picks for November 1, 2017

Guards

Kemba Walker vs. MIL ($7.6k DraftKings, $8.4k FanDuel)
Russell Westbrook and the Thunder dissected the Bucks’ young defense last night, and we can expect Kemba Walker to lead the charge as Milwaukee goes on the road for the second half of a back-to-back. He’s been on fire for Charlotte with career-best marks of 25.2 points and 6.6 assists per 36 minutes so far this year and peaked with 87 points and 21 dimes in his last three games. Milwaukee is giving up an above average 47.85 FPPG to opposing point guards this season, and Walker is still relatively cheap on DK.

Eric Gordon @ NY ($6.7k DraftKings, $6.4k FanDuel)
The Rockets don’t have a true point guard with Chris Paul (knee) on the shelf. Even though James Harden has the bulk of the ball-handling duties, Eric Gordon is creating much more often than he has in years past. The reigning Sixth Man of the Year is posting a 17.7 percent assist rate, well up from the 12.3 percent mark last year, and his usage rate his skyrocketed from 22.1 to 31.6 percent this season. After missing Saturday’s tilt with a stomach bug, he returned to drop 25 points over 37 minutes against the 76ers and should find space to create against a Knicks team that gives up the most assists per game (11.33) and third-most FPPG (51.95) to opposing PGs this season.

Mike James @ WAS ($4.7k DraftKings, $4.5k FanDuel)
The Suns have put pressure on Mike James recently by starting Tyler Ulis. James responded last night with a line that said, “Don’t even try to take away my minutes.” The rookie out of Lamar University continued to score efficiently with 24 points on 9-of-16 shooting and dropped five assists as well. He’s rocking a 26.8 percent assist rate and is seeing plenty of opportunities as the maestro of a Suns team that ranks second in the NBA in pace. Washington ranks third in pace for opposing PGs, and John Wall is using a ton of energy on the offensive end, which saps his defensive value.

Others to Consider: James Harden, John Wall, Devin Booker, Evan Fournier, Rodney Hood, Jarrett Jack, Austin Rivers

Forwards

Kristaps Porzingis vs. HOU ($8.9k DraftKings, $9.7k FanDuel)
Anthony Davis has more upside at this position of course, albeit at a much higher price tag, but Kristaps Porzingis is right there with “The Brow” in terms of his ability to produce. Coming off a career-high 38 points in a win over Denver, “The Unicorn” faces a Rockets team giving up 42.4 rebounds per game (28th in the NBA) and allowing opponents to shoot 40 percent from deep (27th in NBA) this year. Porzingis has only had one dud all year in a blowout loss, and he’s thriving now that the Knicks have rallied around veteran guard Jarrett Jack and are spacing the floor with Tim Hardaway Jr. hitting jumpers.

Ben Simmons vs. ATL ($8.8k DraftKings, $9.2k FanDuel)
This is a downright bargain for Ben Simmons on DK in a really good matchup. The 1-6 Hawks have been dreadful defensively, coughing up the sixth-most assist per game (23.7) and the sixth-highest field goal percentage (51.5). Simmons is a positionless wonder, who is creating for fellow budding superstar Joel Embiid and others on his way to averages of 18.4 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 7.7 assists per game this year. He’s also produced 42-plus DK points in five consecutive appearances.

Tyreke Evans vs. ORL ($5.3k DraftKings, $5.4k FanDuel)
Tyreke Evans is my favorite mid-tier play on this slate, and he’ll see a huge uptick in usage if Mike Conley (achilles) is either limited or inactive. Regardless, the playmaking wing is healthier than he’s been in several years, producing 52 points, 23 rebounds, and seven assists in his last three appearances, topping out at 30 minutes while dropping a double-double in his last game. Now, he faces the surprisingly fast-paced Magic and a couple of weak perimeter defenders in Evan Fournier and D.J. Augustin.

Others to Consider: Anthony Davis, LeBron James, Lauri Markkanen, Domantas Sabonis, T.J. Warren, Dillon Brooks

Centers

Hassan Whiteside @ CHI ($7.9k DraftKings, $9.2k FanDuel)
If Hassan Whiteside (knee) can’t go tonight, feel free to pivot to Joel Embiid or pay up for great options such as Karl-Anthony Towns or Nikola Jokic. Yet if Miami’s big man makes his overdue return from a knee bruise, he’ll be a fantastic GPP play. The monstrous center tallied 26 points and 22 boards in his sole appearance this year and stands to dominate tonight against a Bulls team giving up the eighth-most FPPG (55.53) and fourth-most RPG (18.4) to opposing centers this year. Whiteside averaged 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 3 blocks in two meetings with Chicago last year. Plus, the Bulls are quite shorthanded up front due to the preseason scuffle between Bobby Portis and Nikola Mirotic. If Whiteside is out, Bam Adebayo ($3.7k, $3.4k) would remain a great value.

Cody Zeller vs. MIL ($4.1k DraftKings, $4.4k FanDuel)
Dwight Howard grabbed a season-high 22 rebounds the last time these teams faced off, but he only managed eight points and is coming off a very rough outing in Memphis. D12 should still start and is a good play in his own right, but Cody Zeller is likely to see plenty of run at PF alongside him in an effort to take advantage of the Bucks’ struggles down low. Milwaukee gave up 10 offensive rebounds and lost the total rebounding battle 47-30 while getting blown out by the Thunder last night, and Zeller has been great in three appearances with a 24.7 percent defensive rebounding rate.

Others to Consider: Karl-Anthony Towns, Nikola Jokic, Dwight Howard, Clint Capela, Alex Len, Willie Cauley-Stein, Bam Adebayo
