Best NBA DFS Picks for October 30, 2017

Guards

James Harden vs. PHI ($11.2k DraftKings, $11.0k FanDuel)
It’s tough to pay up for truly expensive guards and still get some exposure to either superstar Pelicans big man tonight, but there’s definitely a case to be made for James Harden in GPP formats. If Eric Gordon (illness) remains out, Harden will be a chalk play with a very high floor. He’s rocking a 38.1 percent usage rate while averaging 1.30 FPS per minute with both Gordon and Chris Paul (knee) off the floor this year. The Rockets’ offense simply crumbled in Memphis with Gordon out, yet now they face a far more vulnerable young team. They’ll look to ride The Beard to victory after edging the Sixers 105-104 in Philly last week.

DeMar DeRozan @ POR ($7.9k DraftKings, $8.3k FanDuel)
DeMar DeRozan is in a solid price range for a player with a lofty floor, as he’s produced at least 41 DK points in three consecutive road games and will look to continue his run of productivity at Portland. The Blazers are sixth in the NBA in points per game (111.3), and this game has been assigned a solid 215-point over/under. Therefore, DeRozan is looking at a high-volume role in a potential shootout. He’s 36-for-71 (50.7 percent) from the field in his last two games and is one of the most consistent mid-range shooters in the league without question.

Jarrett Jack vs. DEN ($4.3k DraftKings, $4.2k FanDuel)
Unsurprisingly, the Knicks rolled a shorthanded Nets team on Friday night. Then, they surprised everyone by beating the Cavs on Sunday. While Jarrett Jack didn’t shoot particularly well, he paced the offense with nine assists and logged 33 minutes along with the rest of a very productive starting lineup. Ramon Sessions has fallen out of the rotation, and it’s hard to imagine Jeff Hornacek messing with what’s working after a two-game winning streak.

Others to Consider: Steph Curry, Kyrie Irving, D.J. Augustin, Austin Rivers, Rodney Hood, Yogi Ferrell

Forwards

LaMarcus Aldridge @ BOS ($8.5k DraftKings, $8.7k FanDuel)
It’s great to see LaMarcus Aldridge regain his confidence and play like an all-star once again, as he’s carried the Spurs to a 4-2 start with team-high averages of 25.6 points and 9.2 rebounds per game on the year. Even in a surprising blowout loss at Orlando, Aldridge flashed a great floor by snagging a double double with 24 points in 30 minutes of work. The Spurs are going for a 12th consecutive win over the Celtics tonight, and they have an obvious advantage in their versatile forward. LMA can shoot over smaller defenders and rebound effectively against the undersized Celtics.

Joe Ingles vs. DAL ($5.2k DraftKings, $5.4k FanDuel)
The Jazz need a lot of players to step up with Gordon Hayward no longer on the roster; Joe Ingles has been the biggest beneficiary of those extra opportunities thus far. He has met or exceeded value in five of his six appearances this year, with the sole exception coming against a staunch Clippers defense on a night where he felt sick and logged just 18 minutes. Since then, he’s played 62 minutes in two games, producing 24 points with six steals and shooting 5-for-11 from downtown. Ingles is a sniper, who led the league in 3PT% for a lengthy period last year and faces a Mavs team that’s allowed the second-most 3PTM per game (11.9) this season.

Trevor Ariza vs. PHI ($5.0k DraftKings, $5.1k FanDuel)
Use Trevor Ariza in a stack with Harden, or simply as a way to get exposure to the Rockets’ offense in a fantasy-friendly matchup. If Gordon is out, he’ll be see more usage. Regardless, Ariza will be asked to play 36 minutes or more as a main cog in Mike D’Antoni’s short rotation against an athletic young Sixers team. While he’s lost a step and isn’t necessarily capable of going off on a given night anymore, Ariza makes for a solid value in this price range.

Others to Consider: Anthony Davis, Ben Simmons, Kristaps Porzingis, Aaron Gordon, Al-Farouq Aminu, Tyreke Evans, Ryan Anderson

Centers

DeMarcus Cousins vs. ORL ($11.6k DraftKings, $12.0k FanDuel)
You probably can’t go wrong with either DeMarcus Cousins or Anthony Davis tonight, but “Boogie”has been spectacular to open the season and doesn’t come with a huge injury risk. His individual matchup is also much better against mediocre defender Nikola Vucevic, whom Cousins torched for 33 points on 12-of-20 shooting in their sole meeting last year. Playing alongside another superstar has tapered his usage to an extent, but it also seems to be preserving Cousins for other aspects of the game, as he’s on pace for career-best averages of 2.3 blocks and 13.8 rebounds per game.

Jusuf Nurkic vs. TOR ($6.4k DraftKings, $6.9k FanDuel)
While he’s struggled a bit with his confidence to open the season, Jusuf Nurkic is starting to turn it around. He’ll likely be facing Jonas Valanciunas in the big man’s first game back from a badly sprained ankle. We could see some tentative defensive play from Valanciunas and plenty of opportunities for Nurkic to finish while diving to the rim when the Blazers run pick-and-roll sets. “Nurk” slimmed down this offseason so that he could presumably use his superior skill and quickness against slower bigs like Valanciunas or back-up center Jakob Poeltl.

Others to Consider: Karl-Anthony Towns, Joel Embiid, Rudy Gobert, Enes Kanter, Kelly Olynyk, Cody Zeller
