Week 6 of the NFL is upon us, and everyone is looking to cash in on the big daily fantasy football money at FanDuel. Every week, we’ll bring you our top DFS NFL picks for each position and recommend them as Cash Game and/or GPP plays. Cash Game options generally come with less risk and a more stable floor, while the best GPP plays can bring tons of risk but also upside. Taking a chance on players with high ceilings and low floors is a good way to separate from a large tournament field.
As with any DFS sport, the advice below is relevant for fantasy purposes. A player or team might be better or worse from a fantasy perspective than in real life due to matchup, price, game flow, and more. This is important when constructing a roster. Best Week 6 DFS NFL Stacks on FanDuel
Deshaun Watson/DeAndre Hopkins/Will Fuller V vs. CLE ($7.9k, $8.0k, and $6.0k FanDuel) – Cash/GPP
If you read my main FanDuel plays article for this week, you know I like Deshaun Watson a lot. And like last week, Watson and DeAndre Hopkins make for a fantastic stack this week at home against probably the worst pass defense the NFL has seen in some time. Cleveland can’t stop any top receivers this year and “Nuk” just dominated an elite Chiefs defense in a comeback effort last Sunday. He’ll be such a popular play that it’s worth rolling out Watson naked, or pairing him with Will Fuller V as a way to differentiate. You can also consider TE Ryan Griffin ($4.5k) as a punt play given how poor the Browns defense has been against that position as well.
Drew Brees/Michael Thomas/Alvin Kamara vs. DET ($8.6k, $8.5k, and $5.8k FanDuel) – Cash/GPP
We essentially know that Brees will put up points at home. It’s just a matter of predicting where he’ll be able to exploit the Lions’ defense. The Saints run most of their offense through their Hall of Fame-bound QB, and that’s turned Kamara into the best RB to target in New Orleans, as he compiled 10 receptions for 71 yards and a touchdown in Week 4. Thomas draws a tough matchup against the Lions’ cornerback tandem of Quandre Diggs and Darius Slay, but he’s physical enough to win against those smaller DBs and has definitely become Brees’ favorite target. It’s worth considering Willie Snead ($5.6k) in his return from a suspension and minor hamstring injury, as Detroit’s defense is generally more vulnerable between the numbers, and he’s been a great possession receiver in the past.
Kirk Cousins/Jordan Reed/Terrelle Pryor Sr. vs. SF ($7.8k, $6.5k, and $6.8k FanDuel) – GPP
Using Jordan Reed in any format is an extremely risky proposition despite the fact that he’s reportedly 100 percent (or as close as he’ll ever be) coming out of Washington’s bye week. His upside is quite palpable in a matchup against the 49ers’ weak pass defense, as he represents a matchup nightmare for big linebackers NaVorro Bowman and Reuben Foster. Terrelle Pryor is another risky pairing with Kirk Cousins, but slot receiver Jamison Crowder also flashed a dangerously low floor in his last outing. It’s tough to trust any Washington receivers outside of GPPs, but Cousins is a solid stand-alone play in any format given his impressive home splits during the last couple seasons.
C.J. Anderson/Broncos Defense vs. NYG ($7.0k and $5.4k FanDuel) – Cash
The Giants have no weapons with which to threaten arguably the best defense in the league. Denver (-12) is expected to roll in a Sunday night game, and that sets up C.J. Anderson to chew up clock against the 31st run defense (DVOA) in the league. Anderson is a fine Cash Game play, while Jamaal Charles ($5.4k) is worth a look in GPP formats. He should mix into the game and potentially see even more work down the stretch if the Broncos have a sizable lead.
Devonta Freeman/Falcons Defense vs. MIA ($7.4k and $5.0k FanDuel) – Cash/GPP
This may not be as straightforward as the line makes it seem. The Falcons (-11) are second to Denver as huge favorites at home this week, but their offense doesn’t exactly pound the run game. Devonta Freeman still has immense upside as a great goal-line back and receiving option, but a Matt Ryan/Julio Jones stack with or without the Falcons D/ST might pay off in a big way as well. There’s one thing we know for sure: the Dolphins can’t move the ball right now and will be even worse if DeVante Parker (ankle) is out or limited, so game flow will be heavily in favor of Atlanta.
Harrison Butker/Chiefs Defense vs. PIT ($4.7k and $4.8k FanDuel) – Cash/GPP
This is one of the better combinations to consider at kicker and defense given how adept the Chiefs’ special teams unit is overall. Of course, you have Tyreek Hill, arguably the best punt returner in the game today, who can be paired with the Chiefs D/ST with immense upside. Meanwhile, Ben Roethlisberger offers plenty of upside as a target considering he just threw five picks in a home game and has historically been much more vulnerable on the road. The Chiefs’ offense is rolling behind Alex Smith, but he’s not exactly a risk-taker in the red zone, and the Steelers pass defense is stout, so we should see a lot of drives stall to set up Butker for field goal attempts.
