DFS MLB Lineups for September 28, 2017 at Draftkings.com & Fanduel.com
For this daily fantasy baseball season, each day there’s a good slate of DFS MLB games, we’ll be writing up a group of pitchers and hitters that we’re considering for our cash and GPP lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel. As with any DFS sport, the advice below is relevant for fantasy purposes. A player or team might be better or worse from a fantasy perspective than they are in real life due to matchup, price, park factor, etc. This is important when constructing a roster. And if you’re looking for new ways to play DFS, be sure and give BOOM Fantasy and DRAFT a try!
A quick reminder while playing DFS MLB, don’t forget baseball is a game of variance. You can make a really solid lineup and still fall short of the cash line. Even Corey Kluber can get lit up, and Mike Trout can still go 0 for 4. Baseball is funny like that. Trust the process and know that if you’re playing quality lineups, you’ll be a winner in the long term.
Another thing to remember outside of making sure your player is in the lineup, is to always check the weather. Always. Make this something that is part of your basic routine. Baseball games can get postponed! Your players receive no points from postponed games!

Best DFS MLB Pitchers for September 28, 2017
Sonny Gray vs. TB ($11.7k DraftKings, $9.2k FanDuel)
Gray is atop the board tonight with Stephen Strasburg scratched, and he has a lot to play for with the Yankees gunning for an A.L. East crown. Gray’s matchup is also quite nice against a Rays team that ranks 29th in collective wOBA (.295) with the lowest batting average (.231) in the Majors over the last 30 days. Gray’s dominated the Rays with 25 K’s over 3 starts (20.1 IP) this season and current Rays are 39-for-138 (.232) with a .298 wOBA in their careers against the Yankees righty.
Danny Duffy vs. DET ($9.3k DraftKings, $8.3k FanDuel)
The Tigers lineup continues to get weaker with platoon specialist Mikie Mahtook (groin) done for the season and Duffy’s been able to limit Detroit over the past few seasons even when they were contenders. Duffy has been his usual solid self this year and quickly jumped back into it with 10 K’s and 3 ER allowed over 2 outings (11 IP) this month. He’s rocking a 3.12 ERA with a 1.15 WHIP over 9 home starts this year and he should the benefit of run support with the Royals offense facing a struggling LHP in Daniel Norris.
Julio Teheran @ MIA ($8.4k DraftKings, $8.1k FanDuel)
Teheran’s posted strange reverse splits this year with a 5.86 ERA at home and a 2.84 ERA to go 8-2 over 14 road starts. He draws a tough challenge tonight against Giancarlo Stanton and the slugging Marlins, but Teheran spun 6 scoreless innings against Miami this season and has posted a 3.69 ERA over the last 3 seasons against the Fish. He really turned a corner in mid August and is posting a 3.13 ERA with a 1.29 WHIP over his last 8 outings, so Teheran may be safe enough to use in any format at this point.
Other pitchers to consider: Brad Peacock, Eduardo Rodriguez, Ivan Nova, Lance Lynn
Best DFS MLB Hitters for September 28, 2017
Mike Trout @ CWS ($5.7k DraftKings, $4.8k FanDuel)
If you’re going to pay up for a stud hitter tonight, it might as well be the best player in baseball. Trout’s flashing tremendous upside as per usual with 2 HRs, 4 walks and a SB over his last 3 appearances leading into Wednesday and he faces one of the weakest SPs in the league in White Sox rookie Dylan Covey. The young RHP has been tagged for a 2.66 HR/9 ratio with a 7.83 ERA over 17 career appearances and the bulk of the damage has come from RHB. Righties are hitting .338 with a .448 wOBA against Covey and Trout has been more dangerous with a .316 average and 1.118 OPS in RvR matchups this year.
Jed Lowrie @ TEX ($3.9k DraftKings, $4.0k FanDuel)
The Athletics offense is coming on towards the end of the year and the ball could be jumping out of the Launching Pad in the hot Texas night. Lowrie doesn’t necessarily profile as a power hitter, yet he’s flashed upside with 50 XBH and 14 HRs this season. Tonight he faces a RHP in Miguel Gonzalez, who is posting a 5.05 FIP with a 1.52 WHIP when facing the platoon and has struggled mightily with a 7.56 ERA and .306 BAA over 2 home starts since joining the Rangers.
Kurt Suzuki @ MIA ($3.8k DraftKings, $3.8k FanDuel)
After starting his career on a high note, Marlins LHP Dillon Peters has been continuously lit up in some tough matchups, as the Brewers and Diamondbacks tagged him for 13 ER over his last 2 starts. The Braves don’t quite have the same type of elite right-heavy lineup, but do have some intriguing values to consider against Peters, including Suzuki. The steady catcher is slashing .395/.425/.684 over his last 10 appearances with multiple hits in 4 of his last 5 outings and the newly-minted Braves backstop should be in the lineup tonight considering he’s hitting .345 with a .495 wOBA and .455 ISO Mark against LHP this season.
Other hitters to consider: Trea Turner, Freddie Freeman, Justin Upton, Lorenzo Cain, Brett Gardner, Whit Merrifield, Ryon Healy, Robinson Chirinos
9/28/17 DFS MLB STACKS
Rangers vs Sean Manaea
The Athletics young southpaw has had trouble at tough venues throughout the season, notably getting tagged for 7 ER on 11 hits over just 3.2 IP in a start at Fenway Park on Sep 12. Now he returns to the rotation after dealing with a back injury and faces a dangerous Rangers squad at a tremendous hitter’s park down in Arlington. With Adrian Beltre shut down, Will Middlebrooks could get a chance to start and would be an appealing punt play at a bottom barrell price tag. Elvis Andrus is a candidate to get the Rangers offense gets going, while Robinson Chirinos has been a great cash game play at catcher and he’s another RHB that thrives against lefties to consider along with OF Delino Deshields.
Angels vs Dylan Covey
Angels bats besides Mike Trout come at relatively little cost tonight in a very good matchup. We covered how badly Covey has struggled against righties, so Justin Upton is also worth consideration as a bit of an against-the-grain play as the only other costly Angel. Brandon Phillips and Albert Pujols are value plays to consider at their respective infield positions, while Kole Calhoun has been hot lately and is definitely worth using with the platoon advantage against Covey.
Other Stacks to consider:
Braves vs. Dillon Peters
Yankees vs. Jake Faria
Royals vs. Daniel Norris
