DFS MLB Lineups for September 13, 2017 at Draftkings.com & Fanduel.com

For this daily fantasy baseball season, each day there’s a good slate of DFS MLB games, we’ll be writing up a group of pitchers and hitters that we’re considering for our cash and GPP lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel. We’ll also provide a list of stacks to consider, MLB start times, starting pitchers, and game run totals to give you a good idea of where the fantasy goodness might come from on a given night. As with any DFS sport, the advice below is relevant for fantasy purposes. A player or team might be better or worse from a fantasy perspective than they are in real life due to matchup, price, park factor, etc. This is important when constructing a roster. And if you’re looking for new ways to play DFS, be sure and give BOOM Fantasy and DRAFT a try!

A quick reminder while playing DFS MLB, don’t forget baseball is a game of variance. You can make a really solid lineup and still fall short of the cash line. Even Chris Sale can get lit up, and Paul Goldschmidt can still go 0 for 4. Baseball is funny like that. Trust the process and know that if you’re playing quality lineups, you’ll be a winner in the long term.

Another thing to remember outside of making sure your player is in the lineup, is to always check the weather. Always. Make this something that is part of your basic routine. Baseball games can get postponed! Your players receive no points from postponed games!

Best DFS MLB Pitchers for September 13, 2017

Jon Lester vs. NYM ($9.6k DraftKings, $8.7k FanDuel)
It’s almost time for postseason baseball, when Lester has always been at his best and that’s part of the reason why it may make sense to pay down for the veteran instead of spending it all on Max Scherzer tonight. The Cubs are barely holding off the Cardinals while Washington’s already clinched a division title and they draw a plus matchup over the next few days against a Mets team that’s packed it in for winter. The Mets are posting the seventh-highest K-Rate (23.9%) in the Majors against LHP and Lester will be starting opposite human piñata Matt Harvey with a great chance to earn a win.

Doug Fister vs. OAK ($8.8k DraftKings, $8.2k FanDuel)
The Red Sox are heavily favored at home tonight with struggling sophomore RHP Jharel Cotton going for Oakland and Fister’s certainly been solid enough to earn a potential win with a Quality Start. The veteran is 5-2 with a 3.43 ERA over his last 7 outings and he’s mixed in a couple of gems while averaging 25.7 DK PPG during that span. Oakland is posting the fourth-highest K-Rate (25.2%) with a weak .247 batting average this season and current A’s are just 14-for-74 (.189) with a weak .222 wOBA in their careers against the sinkerballer.

Chase Anderson vs. PIT ($7.6k DraftKings, $8.1k FanDuel)
A solid RHP that makes for a great cash game play tonight, Anderson is facing a Pirates offense that’s really struggled lately while dealing with the absence of Josh Harrison. Pittsburgh has scored the third-fewest runs (106) with the third-lowest wOBA (.298) in the Majors and Anderson is 4-1 with a 2.16 ERA over his last 6 appearances against the Pirates. He’s posting a 2.93 ERA despite his low 38.2% Ground Ball Rate, as Anderson’s holding batters to a 16.8% Line Drive Rate this year.

Other pitchers to consider: Max Scherzer, Yu Darvish, Dan Straily, Dinelson Lamet, Lance McCullers Jr.

Best DFS MLB Hitters for September 13, 2017

Anthony Rizzo vs. NYM ($5.5k DraftKings, $3.9k FanDuel)
He’s been a little cold lately, but facing Matt Harvey could be the cure for what ails Rizzo. The Dark Knight gave up 4 ER and 3 HRs over 4 IP in a home start against the Cubs and now he’ll face that lineup at hitter-friendly Wrigley Field. Rizzo led that game off with a HR to add to Harvey’s struggles against the platoon, as the RHP is now allowing a 2.67 HR/9 ratio with a 7.37 FIP and 37.6% Hard Contact Rate against LHB this season. Rizzo’s hitting .320 with a .420 wOBA at home and he’s been solid with a .310 average since the ASB to resurrect his season.

Daniel Murphy vs. ATL ($4.7k DraftKings, $3.8k FanDuel)
The Nationals struggling offense could get on track tonight against a rookie lefty that gave up 6 ER over 4 IP in his sole MLB appearance. Luiz Gohara actually struggled worse in LvL matchups this year, allowing LHB to hit .317 with a 1.94 WHIP against lefties at the AAA level. Murphy’s been quite effective with a .315 average and .378 wOBA against lefties this season and he’s been very hot with a .443 wOBA and 1.075 OPS in September.

Teoscar Hernandez vs. BAL ($3.0k DraftKings, $2.3k FanDuel)
For some reason FanDuel was late to add him to contests, but he’s a great value on both main DFS sites now. He’s getting consistent playing time for the Blue Jays at the end of a lost season and had a two-homer game on Sunday. Hernandez has already logged a hit off tonight’s SP Kevin Gausman, who has come back to earth with a 3.60 ERA and 1.47 WHIP over his last 3 starts. He was blocked from starting on a loaded Astros team, but Hernandez could be a great find for Toronto and a great value in DFS over the next few weeks.

Other hitters to consider: Nolan Arenado, Jose Altuve, Justin Turner, Nelson Cruz, Howie Kendrick, Tim Beckham, Josh Bell, Alex Avila, Shin-Soo Choo

9/13/17 DFS MLB STACKS

Astros vs Tyler Skaggs
Skaggs managed to shut down an Athletics lineup that’s really struggled against lefties this season, but facing the Astros is an entirely different animal. Houston’s posting the second-highest wOBA (.347) with the lowest K-Rate (16.5%) in the Majors against lefties and tagged Skaggs for 5 runs over 5 IP in a recent meeting. Jose Altuve could lead this stack with his absurd .430 road batting average and Carlos Correa is back in the fold at a very reasonable price tag. Cameron Maybin is another dual threat with a history of success against the platoon and Alex Bregman’s been very productive over the last month as another RHB to consider.

Red Sox vs Jharel Cotton
Cotton’s struggles continued at home against the Astros in his last outing, as he’s now posting a 7.02 ERA with a 7.43 FIP and 2.98 HR/9 ratio since the ASB. That’s a recipe for disaster in a tough spot at Fenway Park, where the Red Sox offense can come alive at any time. Dustin Pedroia is back in the lineup and producing, while Mookie Betts has been quite hot over his past few home games. You can usually find a value catcher in this lineup whether it’s Christian Vazquez or Sandy Leon, who will have the platoon advantage along with promising rookie Rafael Devers and Mitch Moreland if he draws the start against a vulnerable RHP tonight.

Other Stacks to consider:
Nationals vs. Luiz Gohara
Cubs vs. Matt Harvey
Rangers vs. Mike Leake
