DFS MLB Lineups for August 28, 2017 at Draftkings.com & Fanduel.com

For this daily fantasy baseball season, each day there’s a good slate of DFS MLB games, we’ll be writing up a group of pitchers and hitters that we’re considering for our cash and GPP lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel. We’ll also provide a list of stacks to consider, MLB start times, starting pitchers, and game run totals to give you a good idea of where the fantasy goodness might come from on a given night. As with any DFS sport, the advice below is relevant for fantasy purposes. A player or team might be better or worse from a fantasy perspective than they are in real life due to matchup, price, park factor, etc. This is important when constructing a roster. And if you’re looking for new ways to play DFS, be sure and give BOOM Fantasy and DRAFT a try!

A quick reminder while playing DFS MLB, don’t forget baseball is a game of variance. You can make a really solid lineup and still fall short of the cash line. Even Chris Sale can get lit up, and Paul Goldschmidt can still go 0 for 4. Baseball is funny like that. Trust the process and know that if you’re playing quality lineups, you’ll be a winner in the long term.

Another thing to remember outside of making sure your player is in the lineup, is to always check the weather. Always. Make this something that is part of your basic routine. Baseball games can get postponed! Your players receive no points from postponed games!

Best DFS MLB Pitchers for August 28, 2017

Corey Kluber @ NYY ($13.1k DraftKings, $11.2k FanDuel)
When he draws a tough matchup, Kluber seems to be at his best, and that’s why he’s likely to edge Chris Sale for the A.L. CY Young award this year. The Indians ace just held the Red Sox in check with 12 K’s over 7.2 strong innings and now he’ll face a Yankees lineup that he dominated with 11 K’s in a complete-game effort earlier this season. Kluber went 3-0 with a 0.82 ERA and 10.63 K/9 ratio over his previous 3 outings against the Yanks, so something about those famous pinstripes make him focus.

Drew Pomeranz @ TOR ($8.8k DraftKings, $8.7k FanDuel)
Showing no ill effects from the back spasms that forced him out of his previous outing, Pomeranz blanked a dangerous Indians lineup while allowing just 2 hits over 5.1 IP last Wednesday. Now he’ll pitch on full rest against a Blue Jays offense that’s been extremely disappointing with the lowest batting average (.242) amongst A.L. teams and been nearly as ineffective against lefties. Current Blue Jays are just 10-for-67 (.149) with 20 K’s and just 2 XBH in their careers against Pomeranz, who has been consistent with a 3.09 ERA away from Fenway Park this season.

Mike Montgomery vs. PIT ($7.1k DraftKings, $6.6k FanDuel)
There might have been some questions about his longevity as Montgomery moved from the bullpen into the Cubs rotation last Wednesday, but the crafty lefty went 6 strong innings to earn a win in Cincy and prove that he’s definitely capable of performing like a starter again. He’ll be home tonight against a Pirates team that’s ranked 23rd in collective wOBA (.307) and 26th in batting average (.238) against LHP this year and he could get ample run support with vulnerable RHP Trevor Williams going for Pittsburgh.

Other pitchers to consider: Luis Severino, Aaron Nola, Jeff Samardzija, Daniel Gossett, Ian Kennedy

Best DFS MLB Hitters for August 28, 2017

Giancarlo Stanton @ WAS ($5.3k DraftKings, $5.2k FanDuel)
Fading Stanton is an extremely dangerous proposition these days and it’s not that difficult to pay up for him on DK. The hottest hitter in the Majors with a .382/.474/.956 slash line and ridiculous .562 wOBA during August, he’s facing a RHP in Edwin Jackson, who is rocking a 1.88 HR/9 ratio and 5.44 FIP that belies his 3.38 ERA this season. Stanton is 4-for-9 with a HR in his career against Jackson and his 34.6% HR/FB ratio when facing RHP speaks for itself.

Brandon Crawford @ SD ($3.8k DraftKings, $3.3k FanDuel)
It’s often easy to find cheap bats in games at Petco Park and Crawford is one value play that could help you pay up for Kluber and/or Stanton on this important slate. The Giants SS is on fire with a .429/.474/.743 slash line over his last 10 appearances and he’ll face a RHP in Jhoulys Chacin, who is posting a 1.54 WHIP with a 34.9% Hard Contact Rate when facing the platoon this year. While Chacin’s been generally solid at home, he’s reportedly dealing with swelling in his right hand and that could lead to another shortened or potentially ineffective outing.

Ryon Healy @ LAA ($3.7k DraftKings, $3.3k FanDuel)
The Athletics hitters rarely get noticed, but Healy is a dangerous slugger with a penchant for crushing lefties and that puts him squarely in play tonight. Angels southpaw Andrew Heaney will make his third start of the year after giving up 9 ER and a stunning 7 HRs over his first 2 outings. Healy’s hitting .346 with a .209 ISO Mark and 23.3% HR/FB ratio off lefties this season and he comes into this matchup rocking a .325 average and .832 OPS over his last 10 appearances.

Other hitters to consider: Charlie Blackmon, Nelson Cruz, Rhys Hopkins, Rafael Devers, Freddie Freeman, J.T. Realmuto, Adam Jones, Trevor Story, Miguel Cabrera, Danny Valencia

8/28/17 DFS MLB STACKS

Rockies vs Jordan Zimmerman
Nobody said an obvious top stack would be full of cheap bats, especially when they’re at Coors Field. While expensive, Colorado’s top trio of Nolan Arenado, Charlie Blackmon and Gerardo Parra could add to Jordan Zimmerman’s recent misery. The Tigers washed-up RHP has amazingly given up 7 ER in 3 straight outings and is allowing LHB to hit .317 with a 1.97 HR/9 ratio and 41.6% Hard Contact Rate this season. Raimel Tapia or Carlos Gonzalez could therefore emerge as excellent values depending on their placement within the Rockies lineup. DJ LeMahieu flashed crazy upside over the weekend and he could round out this stack, or you could go with slugging 1B Mark Reynolds.

Mariners vs Chris Tillman
The Orioles former ace has fallen so far as to get relegated to the bullpen, and his recent return to the rotation was far from inspiring, as Tillman gave up 4 ER and 2 HR over 5.1 innings of work. Overall, he’s posting a 1.99 WHIP and career-worst 19.8% HR/FB ratio, so Nelson Cruz has a chance to improve on his great career splits (5-for-16, 2 doubles, 2 HRs) against Tillman. Danny Valencia and Jean Segura are also worth consideration despite Segura’s recent struggles, while Robinson Cano is hitting .417 over a sample size of 40 plate appearances against a RHP that’s allowing lefties to post a .440 wOBA thanks to a horrendous 10.43 BB/9 ratio when facing the platoon.

Other Stacks to consider:
Royals vs. Austin Pruitt
Cubs vs. Trevor Williams
Orioles vs. Marco Gonzales
