DFS MLB Lineups for August 14, 2017 at Draftkings.com & Fanduel.com
For this daily fantasy baseball season, each day there’s a good slate of DFS MLB games, we’ll be writing up a group of pitchers and hitters that we’re considering for our cash and GPP lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel. We’ll also provide a list of stacks to consider, MLB start times, starting pitchers, and game run totals to give you a good idea of where the fantasy goodness might come from on a given night. As with any DFS sport, the advice below is relevant for fantasy purposes. A player or team might be better or worse from a fantasy perspective than they are in real life due to matchup, price, park factor, etc. This is important when constructing a roster. And if you’re looking for new ways to play DFS, be sure and give BOOM Fantasy and DRAFT a try!
A quick reminder while playing DFS MLB, don’t forget baseball is a game of variance. You can make a really solid lineup and still fall short of the cash line. Even Clayton Kershaw can get lit up, and Mike Trout can still go 0 for 4. Baseball is funny like that. Trust the process and know that if you’re playing quality lineups, you’ll be a winner in the long term.
Another thing to remember outside of making sure your player is in the lineup, is to always check the weather. Always. Make this something that is part of your basic routine. Baseball games can get postponed! Your players receive no points from postponed games!

Best DFS MLB Pitchers for August 14, 2017
Zack Greinke vs. HOU ($10.8k DraftKings, $9.5k FanDuel)
I’m willing to trust Greinke in this spot, or at least give him a chance to perform better than Astros SP Collin McHugh, who has absolutely lit up by the White Sox in his last outing. With Carlos Correa injured and George Springer working off the rust, the Astros have cooled a bit, posting a relatively modest .341 wOBA over the last 14 days and Greinke’s been an absolute stud with a 2.52 ERA, .188 BAA and 10.82 K/9 ratio at home this season. Jose Altuve has great splits against Greinke, but other than that, current Astros are 5-for-45 with 7 K’s in their careers against the D’Backs ace. Let’s roll this play out in GPPs only.
Kevin Gausman @ SEA ($8.5k DraftKings, $8.7k FanDuel)
Gausman has been a completely different pitcher over the last couple months and has turned into a rock solid cash game play with a 3.50 ERA and 10.75 K/9 ratio since the ASB. He just took his first loss in 9 outings last Wednesday, but allowed just 2 ER over his previous 4 starts and should be able to bounce back against a mediocre Mariners offense that’s posting a below average .320 wOBA against RHP this season and is less dangerous when Nelson Cruz and Danny Valencia can’t tee off on lefty starters.
Jerad Eickhoff @ SD ($8.0k DraftKings, $7.4 FanDuel)
He’s been up and down this season, but clearly Eickhoff is in a position to succeed tonight at pitcher-friendly Petco Park. The Padres rank dead last by far in terms of collective batting average (.235), runs scored (443) and are rocking the third-highest K-Rate (25.2%) in the Majors this year to round out their vulnerability. After posting Quality Starts in 3 of his last 4 outings and allowing just 1 ER over 5 IP in another start, Eickhoff appears to have shorn up some issues and he’s quite reasonably priced right now.
Other pitchers to consider: Jose Quintana, Michael Fulmer, Adam Conley, Asher Wojciechowski, Jake Junis
Best DFS MLB Hitters for August 14, 2017
Gerardo Parra vs. ATL ($4.3k DraftKings, $3.4k FanDuel)
While Rockies LHB Charlie Blackmon checks in as the most expensive hitter on the board tonight, Parra draws the same matchup at a much more affordable price tag. The veteran lefty has been cold over the past couple of weeks, but is still rocking a .368 batting average since the ASB and is batting a scorching .413 with a 145 wRC+ at Coors Field. The Rockies should be all over struggling RHP Julio Teheran in that run-inflating ballpark and Parra could serve as a bargain if he returns to his hot-hitting ways.
Didi Gregorious vs. NYM ($3.8k DraftKings, $3.5k FanDuel)
Gregorious continues to rake with a .381 average and .929 OPS over his last 10 appearances and he draws a mouth-watering matchup tonight. The Mets are starting vulnerable RHP Rafael Montero, who has given up at least 3 ER in 5 consecutive appearances and coughed up 7 HRs with 11 walks during that span. Lefties have posted a .316 average and .393 wOBA against Montero over his 4 years in the Majors and pitching at Yankee Stadium will do him no favors.
Buster Posey vs. MIA ($3.6k DraftKings, $3.3k FanDuel)
Marlins LHP Adam Conley could bounce back from rough starts in a couple of recent tough matchups, but Posey still makes for a great stand-alone option against the young southpaw. His production has been modest overall, but Posey is crushing lefties with a .380 batting average and .454 wOBA against the platoon, while he’s hitting .333 overall at home. Conley’s been able to limit teams during his initial time through the lineup, but has struggled in the middle innings and could give way to the Marlins weak bullpen rather early tonight.
Other hitters to consider: Charlie Blackmon, J.D. Martinez, Gary Sanchez, Manny Machado, DJ LeMahieu, Eugenio Suarez, Christian Yelich, Alex Avila, Jed Lowrie, Cesar Hernandez
8/14/17 DFS MLB STACKS
Orioles vs Yovani Gallardo
More than they’re capable of tagging Gallardo, the Orioles could be all over the Mariners bullpen tonight because the veteran RHP has only average 5.1 IP over his last 7 appearances. Gallardo’s been consistently vulnerable with a 5.59 ERA and matching 5.47 FIP at home this season and has given up a 35.9% Hard Contact Rate when facing righties at Safeco Field. That makes Manny Machado a solid option as he tries to save his lost campaign and puts the surging Adam Jones in play as well. Trey Mancini has emerged as an everyday player and Welington Castillo (or Caleb Joseph) continues to produce as a value play at catcher.
Yankees vs Rafael Montero
While Gregorious is the most appealing play at his price point on DK tonight, the rest of the Yankees could erupt against Montero after wrapping up a series against the Red Sox with a brutal matchup against Chris Sale. Brett Gardner found his rhythm against Boston and he’s worth a look along with Aaron Hicks, as both will look to use the platoon advantage against Montero. Gary Sanchez and Aaron Judge are best used in GPP formats at their price tags, but if the Yanks are going to hang some crooked numbers at home, those big bats should have a part in it.
Other Stacks to consider:
Rockies vs. Julio Teheran
Rays vs. Nick Tepesch
Phillies vs. Travis Wood
Braves vs. Chad Bettis
