DFS MLB Lineups for August 12, 2017 at Draftkings.com & Fanduel.com
For this daily fantasy baseball season, each day there’s a good slate of DFS MLB games, we’ll be writing up a group of pitchers and hitters that we’re considering for our cash and GPP lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel. We’ll also provide a list of stacks to consider, MLB start times, starting pitchers, and game run totals to give you a good idea of where the fantasy goodness might come from on a given night. As with any DFS sport, the advice below is relevant for fantasy purposes. A player or team might be better or worse from a fantasy perspective than they are in real life due to matchup, price, park factor, etc. This is important when constructing a roster. And if you’re looking for new ways to play DFS, be sure and give BOOM Fantasy and DRAFT a try!
A quick reminder while playing DFS MLB, don’t forget baseball is a game of variance. You can make a really solid lineup and still fall short of the cash line. Even Clayton Kershaw can get lit up, and Mike Trout can still go 0 for 4. Baseball is funny like that. Trust the process and know that if you’re playing quality lineups, you’ll be a winner in the long term.
Another thing to remember outside of making sure your player is in the lineup, is to always check the weather. Always. Make this something that is part of your basic routine. Baseball games can get postponed! Your players receive no points from postponed games!

Best DFS MLB Pitchers for August 12, 2017
Hyun-Jin Ryu vs SDP ($9.7k DraftKings, $8.2k FanDuel)
Ryu is on a hot stretch where he is one of the better pitchers in the game. He owns a 2.08 ERA over his last six starts which puts the southpaw in good position to dominate once again. Why? Because the Padres are one of the worst hitting teams in baseball. Their .286 wOBA against is the worst in the big leagues. Plus the Dodgers can hit, so there should be enough run support here for a win.
Aaron Nola vs NYM ($10.4k DraftKings, $9.5k FanDuel)
Nola has been pitching like an ace lately despite getting off to a rather cold start. Over his last nine starts, he owns a mere 1.76 ERA and has struck out 70 batters in 61.1 innings. That could put him in pretty good position to throw well against the Mets tonight since they recently dealt one of their top hitters, Jay Bruce, and have a .294 wOBA through nine games this month.
Max Scherzer vs SFG ($14.0k DraftKings, $11.8k FanDuel)
A Cy Young contender on the mound is always a good play. Scherzer owns a 2.23 ERA this season and has struck out 210 batters over 153.1 innings. He is facing the worst hitting team in baseball, the Giants. Their .293 wOBA against right-handers ranks dead last in the big leagues, plus they are at the disadvantage of being on the road. This should give Scherzer the green light to dominate.
Other pitchers to consider: Dylan Bundy, Carlos Martinez
Best DFS MLB Hitters for August 12, 2017
Odubel Herrera vs NYM ($4.3k DraftKings, $3.6k FanDuel)
Herrera’s bat is scorching in the second half. He owns a .476 wOBA since the All-Star break and on the year, his .376 wOBA against left-handed pitching is more than respectable. Since he is the Phillies top bat, he could also be an important piece in a Phillies stack.
Mike Moustakas vs CHI ($4.4k DraftKings, $4.2k FanDuel)
Moustakas has been a serious power threat against righties this year, posting a .296 ISO against them. The right-hander he faces, James Shields, has not been a competent pitcher in quite some time. His ERA is 7.36 over his last five starts and his ERA on the year is over 6.00. Plus Shields has let up 17 home runs in his 12 starts this season, so someone is probably going to take him deep.
Jonathan Schoop @ OAK ($3.7k DraftKings, $3.7k FanDuel)
Schoop is one of the top power hitting second basemen in baseball. His wOBA is .387 against lefties this season and is facing a struggling starter in Sean Manaea. In his five starts since the All-Star break, A’s left-hander has a 5.54 ERA, so fatigue may be setting in as the year progresses. .
Other hitters to consider: Marwin Gonzalez, Albert Almora, Matt Wieters, Logan Forsythe, Matt Carpenter, Eric Hosmer, Travis Shaw
8/12/17 DFS MLB STACKS
Dodgers vs Jhoulys Chacin
The Dodgers are one of the better hitting teams in baseball, and their .344 wOBA at home is the seventh best in the big leagues. Over the course of the season, Padres right-hander Jhoulys Chacin has been miserable away from Petco Park. In his 11 road starts this season, he owns a 7.36 ERA and has let up 11 home runs in 55 innings.
Cardinals vs Lucas Sims
Since the All-Star break, the Cardinals have been one of the better hitting teams in baseball, posting a .334 wOBA. Tonight, they will face an inexperienced right-handed pitcher in Lucas Sims. This is only Sims’ third career MLB start and in the previous two, he has surrendered a combined seven runs and allowed three home runs. His inexperience and 19 home runs allowed in 20 Triple-A outings make him a target here.
Other Stacks to consider:
Cubs @ Patrick Corbin
Astros @ Tyson Ross
