DFS MLB Lineups for July 3, 2017 at Draftkings.com & Fanduel.com
For this daily fantasy baseball season, each day there’s a good slate of DFS MLB games, we’ll be writing up a group of pitchers and hitters that we’re considering for our cash and GPP lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel. We’ll also provide a list of stacks to consider, MLB start times, starting pitchers, and game run totals to give you a good idea of where the fantasy goodness might come from on a given night. As with any DFS sport, the advice below is relevant for fantasy purposes. A player or team might be better or worse from a fantasy perspective than they are in real life due to matchup, price, park factor, etc. This is important when constructing a roster. We’ve got 8 games on the main DFS MLB slate for July 3 with Marcus Stroman coming in as the only arm with a five-figure price tag over on DK. Aaron Nola has looked like the Aaron Nola of old and will be my pitcher of choice tonight against the Pirates. On DK where I need a SP2, I’ll have a healthy mix of Alex Meyer, Jharel Cotton, and Andrew Moore. Love the upside each brings at a good price. As for bats, the Red Sox and the Rockies are going to be very chalky, so I’ll try and avoid them as much as possible and look towards picking on Rick Porcello with the Rangers. Porcello as given up at least 3 earned runs in 9 of his last 10 starts, giving up at least 8 hits in 9 of those 10 starts as well. – Matt
A quick reminder while playing DFS MLB, don’t forget baseball is a game of variance. You can make a really solid lineup and still fall short of the cash line. Even Clayton Kershaw can get lit up, and Mike Trout can still go 0 for 4. Baseball is funny like that. Trust the process and know that if you’re playing quality lineups, you’ll be a winner in the long term.
Another thing to remember outside of making sure your player is in the lineup, is to always check the weather. Always. Make this something that is part of your basic routine. Baseball games can get postponed! Your players receive no points from postponed games!

Best DFS MLB Pitchers for July 3, 2017
Adalberto Mejía vs LAA ($6.6k DraftKings, $6.3k FanDuel)
The left-handed rookie has put together back-to-back scoreless outings while striking out seven batters in 10.2 scoreless innings. Mejia represents an inexpensive way to capitalize on an opponent’s weakness as he faces an Angels lineup that is still without Mike Trout. On the year, the team is hitting .243 with a .674 OPS against left-handers. Plus, Mejia has been solid in his seven night starts this year, posting a 3.86 ERA in 35 innings.
Ivan Nova vs PHI ($8.6k DraftKings, $8.3k FanDuel)
Throughout the year, Nova has shown he is capable of giving his team quality starts on a regular basis. The right-hander has gone 108 innings over 16 starts and posted a 3.08 ERA in the process. That should work out favorable against him as he faces the Phillies, who have one of the weaker offenses in baseball (.246 batting average, .692 OPS against righties). The Phillies aren’t a threat to hit long balls either (78 home runs), so Nova should be able to tame the in-state rival.
Masahiro Tanaka vs TOR ($9.9k DraftKings, $9.0k FanDuel)
Albeit he endured struggles earlier in the year, Tanaka has been sharp in his last four outings. Over those, he owns a 2.92 ERA with 32 strikeouts in 24.2 innings. Truth be had, the Blue Jays offense was rather inactive during their last series, putting up just six runs in three games. Against righties, the Blue Jays are hitting .243 with a .721 OPS which indicates they are not a major threat. It also helps Tanaka that he will be backed by one of the most dangerous lineups in the game.

Best DFS MLB Hitters for July 3, 2017
Joey Gallo vs. BOS ($3.9k DraftKings, $2.8k FanDuel)
If there is one thing Gallo can do well, it is hit for power. The Ranger has clobbered 17 home runs in 189 at-bats against right-handers this season with an OPS over .800. His contact rates might be low, but Gallo is facing Rick Porcello, who has allowed more hits than any other starting pitcher in the big leagues (138). Maybe the sinkerballer is just who Gallo needs to face to boost the home run total.
Deven Marrero vs TEX ($3.3k DraftKings, $2.4k FanDuel)
Marrero has collected ten hits in his last six games after being one of the biggest offensive liabilities in the big leagues. Specifically, he hits left-handed pitching quite well (.353 batting average, 1.126 OPS in 34 at-bats) which should work out well for him as he faces Rangers pitcher. Martin Perez. The southpaw owns a 6.84 ERA in his last five starts so perhaps Marrero, who is coming off a three-hit game, can so some more damage today.
Marcell Ozuna vs. STL ($3.8k DraftKings, $3.6k FanDuel)
The All-Star outfielder is excelling against righties and lefties alike this season. In particular, he is hitting .305 with 18 home runs and a .939 OPS in 239 at-bats against righties. Tonight, he will face a struggling righty in Adam Wainwright. The former Cy Young winner has allowed more than a run per inning over the course of his last five starts (24 runs in 23.2 innings).
Other hitters to consider: Nelson Cruz, Robinson Cano, Jarrod Dyson, Adrian Beltre, Chris Young, Mookie Betts, Justin Bour, Giancarlo Stanton, Mike Moustakas
7/3/17 DFS MLB STACKS
Rangers vs. Rick Porcello
The Rangers are averaging 5.57 runs per game at home this season to go along with their 57 home runs in 39 home games. Fortunately for the Rangers, they will be facing 2016 AL Cy Young Award winner Rick Porcello, who is far from a Cy Young contender this season. He’s 4-10 with a 5.06 ERA and has allowed more hits (138) and earned runs (59) than anyone else. Left-handed batters could fare well against him in their batting haven.
Mariners vs. Ian Kennedy
In short, Kennedy has a 5.64 FIP in 14 starts this season. He has already allowed 16 home runs which is a strike against him. The right-hander could run into some trouble as he faces a lineup that is decently solid against righties (.268 batting average, .767 OPS so far this season). Nelson Cruz, Robinson Cano and Ben Gamel (among others) should be able to take him down.
Marlins vs Adam Wainwright
The Marlins do not have the strongest lineup against right-handed pitching which is an obstacle here, but they’re about average for a National League team (.254 batting average, .729 OPS against righties). Marcell Ozuna, Giancarlo Stanton and Justin Bour are all faring pretty well off righties this season. That will be helpful for the Marlins as they face a struggling Adam Wainwright. The Cardinals righty has let up 24 runs in 23.2 innings while opponents own a .934 OPS against him.
